Hi All

I searched the topic but couldn’t quite find the answer so forgive me if this is a repeat. My church is having Solemn Vespers with the conferral of Papal Honors coming up and I haven’t a clue what to expect. Is it like the traditional mass which requires a head covering? I’m assuming it isn’t a regular mass with communion but just music and prayers? It’s happening soon and I don’t want to make a blunder since I’ve never been to one and I’ve only been a Catholic for a few years.

Thanks!

It is Evening Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours with lots of singing, probably incense, a reading, maybe a homily and the conferring of papal honors. I just love Solemn Vespers especially if they do a lucinarium.

My wife veils every time she enters the church, especially when the Eucharist is in the Tabernacle. It doesn’t have to be for a Mass or special liturgical service.

Yes and I respect that. I used to at my old church but at my new one you don’t see veiled women. I wouldn’t want to create a spectacle and distract people from the mass. I wish we went back to it though. It is a wonderful tradition.

Many women wear the veil at all masses that they attend, or some form of head covering.
A veil or hat should not cause a spectacle or cause distraction.
There are many that believe the law requireing a woman to cover her head is still in effect.
I do not wish to open that discussion , but rather to encourge you to follow the “wonderful tradition” as you yourself labeled it!
