I doubt this was the case, but if there are not vestments of the proper color, white may be used. (This is even true, for example, if there is not a full set for a solemn Mass of red on Pentecost; it would not be necessary to say a low Mass or simply a sung Mass in order to use a red chasuble when there are is no tunic or dalmatic. The ministers may simply wear white.) Gold thread vestments may also replace white, red, and green, and should be used if they are at hand rather than white for a feast that requires red or green.
I know it’s always an option if no vestment of the proper colour is available but such was definitely not the case as we have chasubles in every colour except black. No need for dalmatic or tunic in an Ordinary Form Mass.

Even in the new rite, I think it would be appropriate (it certainly would be licit) for the ministers to use white if no red dalmatic is available.

Even if we have no deacon to wear one? We don’t have any dalmatics since we have no need for any.

No, only if a deacon were used. I wasn’t attempting to discredit your example. I was just discussing a hypothetical situation.

I’m happy to report that the parish I went to today did the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul properly! It was an early morning Mass, no choir or organ or anything… but we sang the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, and Angus Dei, recited the Creed, and the priest chanted quite a bit of his parts, including the Consecration (from the Roman Canon!) and the triple Solemn Blessing.

I made it a point to thank him afterwards for celebrating like the Solemnity it is. (He’s about to be reassigned to a much larger parish - good for him!)

I’m sure at my parish Father did the Gloria and Creed, he never leaves stuff out. But he’s not much of a chanter. He does use the Roman Canon often, but not on weekdays.

No Credo or Gloria again today. I’m tempted to email him and ask why the Credo and Gloria were left out.
