I have a solution. Catholics should go to pp and tell evey women going in that we will buy their baby. that way we can raise them catholic and get rid of all the side probloms of making abortion illegal.
As far as i know this is not true.Though honestly, I doubt it would make a difference whatsoever. Women already know that the option to set their babies up for adoption is out there, they just choose not to take that route because they don’t want to be pregnant for 7 more months (or whatever it would be…).
Therefore at least in theory the option to collect ransom money for the child, should show this argument is a lie.The cost of having a child is used as a reason that women seek abortions.
Most of the women who seek abortions are scared. Many are coerced by boyfriends and others to “get rid of it.” The baby is an inconvenience that brings expenses along with other life changes. What these women need to know is that there are loving alternatives available. Treating the child as a commodity to be bought and sold is not one of them. Helping the mother with financial assistance in the form of free clothes and medical care is. Empowering the mother to choose life with friendship and emotional support during a difficult time is what she needs. Therefore at least in theory the option to collect ransom money for the child, should show this argument is a lie.
But i suspect most pro-choice already know its a lie and actually want choice for other reasons.
You do realize that aside from pregnancy tests and baby clothes Birthright (as good as it is) doesn’t actually provide ANY material services, right? They provide referrals to whatever social services exist in the local community, which in many, many communities isn’t very much. The cost of having a child is used as a reason that women seek abortions.
Instead of “buying the child,” the mother needs to know there are people who care about both her and her baby. She can receive the help she needs from Birthright centers.

Quite honestly there isn’t nearly as much help out there as their should be out there for pregnant women, but of course providing the levels of social services needed would require a vast expansion of the safety net and put us ever closer to those Socialist Europeans…
My point is that Birthright doesn’t feed, house or care for the mothers or children medically, they “refer” them to whatever resources are available locally, which in many, many, communities isn’t nearly enough to make carrying the baby to term a viable option. What Birthright provides, according to its website is
Completely confidential help

Maternity and baby clothes

The woman still has difficult decisions to make. These decisions remain hers.
The sale and purchase of human beings has been illegal in the United States since the 1860s.we will buy their baby
True - but I do not believe that the OP is saying that the baby is a slave after being “purchased.”The sale and purchase of human beings has been illegal in the United States since the 1860s.
LOL I never said anything about slavery. Anyway what prevents a woman from getting pregnant for the sake of exchanging the baby for money? My girlfriend and I could really use some cash and we don’t mind waiting nine months for it, if the price is right.True - but I do not believe that the OP is saying that the baby is a slave after being “purchased.”
The use of the term “buy” is a problem for the concept - but I think this one has some merit. The issue is the unintended consequence - people adjust to the realities of the overall system. If it was possible to pay for only those babies that wold have been killed otherwise, I think this is not a bad idea. But, it will not be possible to do that. Those women who have already decided to carry their baby for the purposes of adoption may wish to take a share of the payments.
Perhaps you could take a survey in a PP and see what the women think of the idea?
Frankly that’s a stupid suggestion!I have a solution. Catholics should go to pp and tell evey women going in that we will buy their baby. that way we can raise them catholic and get rid of all the side probloms of making abortion illegal.
