Hi. I’m new to the forums, and I need some advice. I’ve recently come back to the faith, and I’m having some difficulty in giving up control to God. I have moderate obsessive-compulsive disorder, which causes me to obsessively organize, clean, and sterss-out in general. I worry often, which makes it difficult for me to really “let go” the way I know I need to in order to let God into my life more fully. I feel as if I’m pushing Him away with my desire to control. Has anyone else experienced this or have any advice? Thanks and God bless 🙂

Welcome back to the Church! 🙂

I can relate. I’m somewhat of a perfectionist myself. I came across this prayer recently and I think it will help to meditate upon it. Sometimes repeating a prayer over and over for a few minutes can clear out the distractions and quiet the mind so that God can have His say!

**Father, I abandon myself
into your hands;
do with me what you will.
Whatever you may do,
I thank you.
I am ready for all,

I accept all.

Let only your will be done in me

and in all your creatures.

I wish no more than this, O Lord.

Into your hands

I commend my soul;

I offer it to you,

with all the love of my heart,

for I love you, Lord,

and so need to give myself,

to surrender myself

into your hands,

without reserve,

and with boundless confidence,

for you are my Father.

Amen.**[/SIGN]

Volunteer as a janitor at your church. In this way, you may channel your obsessive-compulsive proclivities into a useful venue.
