In “The Prophecy”, the Archangel Gabriel does. Did they make their final for eternity decision one time only?

Also, do the Guardian Angels protect us out of love for us or love of God only? I feel bad sometimes about sin since this angel stuck with God despite giving us something they didn’t have. Are we like the “Angel man’s burden”?

What pronoun do we use for angels considering they are not humans and don’t, thus, have a sex. “It” sounds a bit degrading for a spirit of their magnificence–even in being an angel.

What’s this stuff about nephalim? Is it some gnostic bull?

Thanks!

Sorry. My title was originally a question about whether an angel could still rebel against God in Pride or just in anger about how we sin with what special thing He did for us that they don’t have.

I can’t answer the rest, but you mentioned Nephilim so here goes on that:

Nephilim are mentioned in the Bible on several occasions so it’s not just Gnosticism, though far more information is in slightly dubious works like Enoch, though they at least give a rough idea.

Basically they were the children of fallen angels and people and were giants, but very wicked. Noah’s flood was primarily to wipe them out, but there seems to be more afterwards probably due to the same happening (Goliath may well be one of the last, but giants are mentioned in the Bible after the flood) and thus the angels involved were (according to 2 Peter) cast into Tartarus (deepest Hades) in chains to await final judgment

No; the angels’ decision for or against God at their creation was permanent and cannot change; thus the angels in Heaven cannot sin. The angels in Heaven rejoice in all that God does and give Him glory for it.

Gen 4 Birth of Cain

**1 And Adam knew Eve his wife: who conceived and brought forth Cain, saying: I have gotten a man through God. **

Cain was the first man born into sin. His mother’s statement at his birth reveals the state of her faith, her perception of her relationship with God and her child.

She recognizes her participation in the creation of man. Like God she is making man in her own image. " I have gotten a man".

God is a means by which the end was a ‘man’, the only man, like Adam once was.

Keep that perceptual environment in mind as the view of reality Cain is raised in. Consider the effect it has on Cain’s view of his relationship to God , his mother, father and eventually his decendants.

Here the power to create is divided into earthly and heavenly components with the power of fertility the end of the creative act and God as the means to that end. This is a mindset that forms a matriarchal culture.

This is the faith deeply rooted into Cain, the seed of which further developed in Cain’s line and decendents. This faith forms the mindset and culture in which they flourished.

Gen 4 Birth of Seth

25 Adam also knew his wife again: and she brought forth a son, and called his name Seth, saying: God hath given me another seed, for Abel whom Cain slew

Here it is plain that Seth is born into a new faith that is no longer disordered. Notice that the creative act isn’t divided but wholly rests in the graciousness of God. Also notice that Seth is to replace Abel who in the absence of Cain would have carried on the line of his father Adam. Perhaps that order enbodied in Abel is what God favored and why Cain murdered him. The new order is expressed in the following passage.

Gen 5
3
** And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begot a son to his own image and likeness, and called his name Seth. **

As with Cain this faith is the seed that develops in his line:

Gen 4,
**26 But to Seth also was born a son, whom he called Enos; this man began to call upon the name of the Lord. **

This is the original faith of Adam that had not been extinguished by the deception of the serpent introduced through Eve, the light that had suffered a mortal wound but had recovered. This line of people are the People of God who’s message of salvation developed to the lofty heights of producing Enoch who’s body became a visible sign of what God had in mind for us in the beginning and at the same time it revealed visibly God’s plan of salvation.

This line from Seth represents a restoration of the image of Adam, image of the original man and concequently a restoration of the image of God on earth. They culture that results from them is patriarchal and called the People of God. The sons of God.

I’ve run out of time so I’ll sum up and continue later.

*The line of Seth are the Sons of God having established a holy patriarchal culture and the daughters of men are the line of Cain having established a matriarchal, idolatrous, polygamous culture. *

Sorry for not getting to how the sons of God generate the Nephilim through the daughters of men in this model but I will continue when I am able.

Peace

My guardian angel is quite tired…has me to contend me…and the angel always speaks to me with a cool clear voice…do that, say that.watch it this is going to happen soon etc…I have made notations in a special book…I call it 'co-incidences or …?" and its amazing how many times my special angel has come through for me…for example…I was invited up to my old school for an inter-generational discussion…there I was on a big screen in the auditorium discussing a story of me going into the big city in the 4th grade with my teacher…alone…all of my buddies called up sick that very morning, imagine a 10 year old .and I loved it.I kept the little statue of liberty pin she purchased for me and showed it to her when she was retiring…and I was student teaching…anyway that very day at this historical site I work and lecture at I had two visitors…both from Iowa…the very state my old 4th grade teacher was from…co-incidence or …?..

How could angels give seed to human women? Are there any mystics who’ve seen those events? Could they explain bones attributed to early man? Evolutionists, don’t get worked up. There’s still the dinosaurs to wonder about.

No-Wrong-Not True.

The “Nephilim”, the “men of renown” “the men of shem”
were the sinful descendants of Lamech, a son of Cain. They were the “daughters of men”

“the sons of God” were the descendants of Seth, Adam’s son.

When wicked people married good people, evil began to rule the men.

This answer makes the most sense on a number of angles:
  1. Due to their nature, angels cannot pro-create with man. There is not even any reason to believe that they would need or want to since angels do not reproduce, but are each unique creations of God (St. Thomas Aquinas says that each angel is a distinct species). Our Lord also reminded us that the angels neither marry or are given in marriage.
  2. Why would God punish men for the sins of angels commited with women and why would the punishment not include the angels if they are the ones that caused it in the first place? The episode is clearly making the point that it is men that are corrupting the earth and thus comes the punishment of The Flood.
  3. The episode also fits the context, in that, back in chapters 4 and 5, the world of men is divided into two lines --the evil line of Cain and Lamech and all those guys, and the good line of Seth and his descendents. The intermarriage of the good and the evil lines, however, is clearly what prompts God to basically start over by destroying corrupted mankind while preseving the righteous line of Seth through his descendant Noah.

OK, since your all talking about Angels I have a question.
It is in reference to a traditional Catholic prayer to one’s Guardian Angel… towards the end of the prayer it says…

… in acknowledgement for all your ministrations to me I offer you you the noble and gracious heart of Jesus…

so, how is it that I am allowed to offer the heart of Jesus to a being that lives in His presence? That line in the prayer confuses me. Some insight would be appreciated, thanks.

.

This part is a prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, thanking Him for the gift of and actions of on behalf of your angel, and also a prayer to Jesus to keep your angel in His heart.

Angels need our blessings and prayers.

Though it was always historically understood as fallen angels as far as I know, or at least this was by far the main view. Furthermore why would the children of mixed race marriages be giants?

Good question. Maybe since the sons of God were from a line of people who were purifying themselves spiritually and in that way becoming great, the logical imitation or opposing counter to that would be becoming great in the opposite way? Becoming great physically.
