Some say Jesus could never have carried a cross

How, then, did the devotion to the Wound of the Holy Shoulder come about? I believe it was revealed by Christ to someone. Besides, Simon of Cyrene could have helped him with a crossbeam. Maybe God just sustained his strength enough to go the distance, with a period of help.
 
Well, if He carried the crossbeam, that still, by dragging it, could have lead to the Wound of the Holy Shoulder. But, Jesus, Himself said, “My Cross”, when speaking with St. Bernard of Clairvaux.
 
That could have happened. I forgot about the Doctor at Calvary book author saying he could have been holding it on his shoulder. Why do they have prisoners carrying the beam over both shoulders with their arms wrapped around it? Was that a misunderstood way? I guess he could have had the beam at a 90 degree angle from his body when Simon helped him carry it.
 
If He carried the beam like that (over his shoulders), it could have still aggrivated one side over the other if He was scourged there or fell that way…
 
Maybe so. Have anyone received a revelation about that? Some say one in his beaten shape couldn’t carry a whole cross. Still, one probably should have been in shock long before then, also. His divinity may have sustained him when his body couldn’t or it could be the drive to complete his mission for love of us also, as one said in material.

I am amazed that human thought can so easily gloss over Divine Action.

Christ Had to crucified in order to fullfil Old Testament Scripture.

Yes, you say, BUT He did not have to carry His own Cross. Let’s not overlook Simon here.

I respectfully suggest that Christ did have to (at least part of the time) carry His own Cross.

**Mt. 16: "24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me”/**B]
(Similar in Lk. Ch.14, and Mk. Ch. 8)

The WORDS "Follow Me" clearly imply “do as I too have done.”

I think it is but a purely human perspective to question how much a mere human could endure?

But Jesus is also God, and we nailed ** Both His Divinity and His Humanity to the Cross!** God sees our sins as soooo serious that He Sent His Only Son. Surely it is not impossible that God would expect from Himself, pain and suffering beyond what a mere motal could endure.

If not, then why would that same God endure the pain, the Abject Humility, the loneliness and sense of abandonment common to staying with us in the Holy Eucharist?

Isiah 52: "13 Behold, my servant shall prosper, he shall be exalted and lifted up, and shall be very high. 14 As many were astonished at him– his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the sons of men-- 15 so shall he startle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths because of him; for that which has not been told them they shall see, and that which they have not heard they shall understand. **

**Jn. 3: “14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.” ***

Yes. Let’s not forget that Jesus’ skin was rendered tender by hematidrosis and the scourging and that the patibulum was most likely rough and unpolished: stumbling or bumping would have been sufficient to give Him a bruise or a scrape and open up His wounds.

Interestingly, the Shroud of Turin shows a wide area of bruises over each anatomical shoulder area. It may be clearly seen on the Shroud that the wounds from the scourging have been opened up in the process. There is also widespread bruising over both scapular regions.
