Hello,
Any help is appreciated!
P.S. I understand that my request for a Church document is rather unthoughtful considering most of my questions above are asking what I can trust. Only thing that seems to be trustworthy is a direct declaration by the Pope. If that is the case, I think that is good too.
After seeing different things on different threads on this forum, I would like to ask the following questions and I would appreciate it if anyone can give me a firm answer, preferably with reference to a Church document.
- Can the Pope contradict a Council on doctrine?
- Are there Ecumenical Councils in our history that have been rejected as invalid or validity-to-be-determined status?
- What constitutes an approval of a council by a Pope?
- If all Catholics believed something to be doctrinally true at a time and was taught in the church, can it be claimed later to be wrong?
Any help is appreciated!
