Someone handed me over a non- Catholic pamphlet and I do not know what to do with it. I cannot throw it because it probably has Bible passages. What to do? Please Reply.

Pamphlet like a little trifold or more of a book? If you want to throw it away, and you’re worried about the Bible passages, you could cut them out and throw the rest away.

Of course you can throw it away.

It’s good to show respect for the written Word, but it’s just a pamphlet. It’s all right to put it into the recycle bin.

Trash it. The scripture that is on there is being used to undermine the very Church that made it available in the first place.

Worn out bibles are cremated (burned). That is acceptable if you do not want to recycle it.

When I have such opportunities, I ask for extras and recycle them.

Somebody was depositing Chick tracts around my place of employment. I must’ve trashed 40+ of those booklets before catching the culprits.

.
On the street before going into Yankee stadium to see pope Benedict a few years ago, a man handed me one of Chick’s anti-Catholic pamphlets. I looked at it for a few seconds and saw what it was and was going to hand it back saying I didn’t like it, but when I looked around, he had magically disappeared and was nowhere to be seen.
Then I threw it in the trash.
I still think of this with amusement. How did he disappear so fast?

I know! These folks are quick! 😮

Once I caught them, I explained that they weren’t permitted to litter the area and that I had been trashing the booklets for months.

The look on their faces were priceless 😊

One of my Catholic coworkers (now deceased) said that they should be burned. If you don’t have a fireplace then I’d shred it.

i refuse everything handed to me because that’s how i got served for divorce. just sayin it’s a good policy.

If you are worried about sacrilege, you can simply burn it as you would any blessed item that needs to be discarded.

I think you’ve misunderstood about not being able to put Bible passages in the bin/recycling.
Certainly, missals used at Mass by the priest should be treated reverently as they will have been blessed., and those given as First Communion gifts and so on are usually blessed as well. It’s the blessing that matters.

But just a piece of paper with a Bible passage on? Well, I must have thrown away hundreds in my time as a sacristan Orders of Service for Weddings and Funerals, Christmas carol service sheets - they all have Bible passages on but get put in recycling if they are left behind in church…

I receive appeals for funds for excellent Catholic groups. I just give to a few of my favorites; the rest goes into the recycle bin. There are always bible quotes in them.

Blessed sacramentals such as medals or scapulars need to be buried or burned.
