=moo5009;5336543]I’m not a Catholic yet, though I desperately want to become one. Certain circumstances in my life inhibit me from joining the church any time in the near future. I’m going through alot right now, and I need some assistance badly. About four months ago, when I decided I wanted to join the church someday, I discovered mortal sins. I decided to turn around my life and stop. This didn’t come so easily. I found myself addicted to them, and I haven’t been able to stop no matter how hard I try. Worse, I can’t go to confession, meaning they can’t be forgiven. And as far as I understand, if you die with any unforgiven mortal sin, you go to hell for eternity. All I want in my life now is forgiveness. But I can’t get it. I want to turn around so badly. Can anyone help? Please?
***Jesus Himself told us to “ask and you shall receive.” God answers prayers!
Because I’m a grandpa, with a son and grandson, I’m going to guess that the issue here is
under the catagory of personal morality.
So here is what you need to know.
God is a all good, just and fair God. He not only judges our actions, but factors in cupability, which is freewill knowledge of the seriousness of our actions, and how freely we make them. The fact that becomming a Catholic at this time is out of the question for you is factored in by God.***
**So what I am about to share with you applies to your personal situation, but does not apply to someone who knows what you do, has the opportunity, but as a freewill decision decides not to act on it. **
For something to be a “Mortal sin” [1 John chapter 5] three conditions must always exist.
Serious matter; this certainly is that.
Knowledge that is a serious matter; and it would seem that too is in “play” in your case.
Freewill desire to commit the sin, knowing that it is a Grevious Matter.
Now it is this third issue that is in question in your case for two reasons.
***1. It is not at pesent within your capabilities to join the Catholic Church, which in turn means that you are through no fault of your own able to access the Sacramant of
Confession.
- Because even if you were able to join the Church and Confess your sin(s)? there might exist a cumpulsion that is a natural responce to hormone growth that MIGHT ???] be influencing your actions, and thus POSSIBLY lessing the seriousness of your act?***
***This is a matter between you and God, and you can fool yourself, but you can never fool God.
Given the facts as you presented them, God wants you do call on His love, Mercy and grace to aid you in NOT SINNING. It is critical that you do not simply give in to what we might call “basic and BASE instincts.” This can only be accomplished with God’s help.
Because you are restrained from Confessing your sin(s) God will forgive you if you sincerly REPENT and sincerly WORK at not sinning in this way again. If you fail, as we humans are prone to do, do not despair. Repent and work harder at not sinning again. God is on your side!
Once you are able to JOIN THE CHURCH, you will at that time have to to the best of your ability confess all of your Mortal sins and the approximate number of times committed.***
I pray this fulfills your plea for help.
Love and prayers friend, walk close to God and He WILL walk close to you
