I am soo sorry guys. I would’ve replied a lot sooner except for I haven’t been home for a while.

I’m also sorry about my post. I guess I just had a moment of weakness. I know I feel burnt out but I guess that doesn’t give me an excuse to take a break or whine.

I recognize this is probably just a spiritual dryness, but it’s been going on for a while and I guess I just get tired. I’m not Catholic so it’s hard to get to mass with my parents kind of hating that religion. I can’t go to confession. My faith doesn’t provide any spiritual food for me so I think this will be a while longer, so I might as well buck up huh.

What is life without trials, anywho?

Thanks for the responses,
cassie

Dont be so hard on yourself man, we all have those bad moments.
Something so neat about the church is that they have beautiful devotions and a lot of spiritual prayers.
you can do an Act of Contriction for repentance.
and an Act of Spiritual Comunion that is to recive the great gift of the eucarist spiritualy.

Also you can check this Devotions to put in practice some of them, they are very spiritual. They made me felt better when I couldnt go to church.

Death.

I wish you could come and join the rest of us idiots in mass this Sunday. 🙂

My only suggestion to find what does feel right is to study the founder of the faiths you are seeking who define dogma and doctrine. One will feel more right than the others.

If you fear your parents’ reaction if you are seen at a Catholic Church, you might try attending Lutheran or Episcopalian services.

That’s the thing about Catholicism. If you don’t keep it up sometimes one can dry up. Get to mass when you can. I hope your parent’s trouble with Catholicism isn’t damaging your relationship with them. (Most who hate are ignorant of what the church is all about.) I would go to the public library and take out works the “greats” like Thomas Aquinas, Chesterton (seems big right now) and Neuman etc. These might help rekindle some passion for you faith to get soaked up in. Keep in mind there is one thing about religion. It is your personal responsibility to get involved. No one else’s. Good Luck!

Hi BumpSetSpike,
You are going through what I and every other LDS who left the church have gone through. Being Mormon is all about following the rules and no matter what you do it is never enough to win the favor of your god or your leaders. Within Mormonism, you will never find what you are seeking.

The problem is that you are trying to worship the wrong god. The real God is not a former human who demands human perfection and slavish rule-following and being burdened with so many callings that you haven’t time to just BE what God created - the real you. God loved the idea of you so much that He created you. YOU - not some cookie-cutter robot,

The real God loves you and sent his Son Jesus to save you. He has done all that is necessary, and there is nothing left for you to do but come to Him and give yourself to Him. He will show you, slowly and gently, what you should do, and His burden is light. That means that following Him is joyful and relaxed and sweet, because God will reveal to you through the Holy Spirit who you really are and what He loves best about you. Then He will somehow use that to make your life meaningful and satisfying. No pressure.

By the way, my friend, there is no “right” way to pray. You just talk to Him however it works for you, and then you listen - a lot.

God bless you in your journey. You are at a very important place right now. Be glad about it!

Paul
