Something keeps stealing my Rosaries!

I have a little shop I like to do my hobbies in, it’s a converted garage that is a seperate building. I bought a rosary from the mall a couple years back, it was from a vendor that had a little kiosk/cart and the wood and the construction was from Jeruselum which I thought was a novel context.

I placed it in my shop, hung on one of the screws, and since I spend alot of my time there, I wanted it to be there to help keep me company of sorts and for decoration of other sorts.

Well, some months later, it turns up missing, I looked everywhere for it, thinking perhaps somehow it managed to get dislodged, I’ve never seen it again. The vendor was no longer in business, at least at the mall, so I couldn’t get a replacement. A few months ago I picked up another one, this time I used one of those plastic straps, you know the kind they use for temporary handcuffs, I figured that tie down was going to secure the rosary to the screw permanently, so I thought.

I then get into the shop today and find that it too is missing, strap and all. I looked around and can’t find this one as well, I’m now thinking, there is either some nut job breaking into the place, stealing them, leaving my tools and camera alone, and doing this for what reason? The only other thing I can think of would be of paranormal origins.

I have decided if it is paranormal, it’s not going to be too thrilled with one of my bibles residing in it’s place.
 
Or, if the Rosaries you are using are shiny, then it could be a pack rat…and I have this picture in my mind of a little furry Rat praying the Rosary :rotfl:
 
Then the packrat will be put to work for me, he he, the darn thing want’s to play in the physical world of man, put it to work for the good of man. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Humor to the side, this is just nuts, or I"m dealing with a nut… hmmm… perhaps we’ll leave this one in the journals of illogic and call it good for now. he he.
 
Well if there’s no natural explanation, it could be what Brother Igantius refers to as a “mosquito demon,” those whose antics just annoy and frustrate us, and make other people think we’re nuts.

I experienced a similar phenomenon in my house involving a pair of glasses. I wear contacts during the day and glasses at night. They went missing and weren’t in one of two places I keep them - either on the nightstand or in the case in my bathroom.

The only other person in my house is my husband. He hadn’t seen them when I first asked.

At the same time this was going on, I was waking up at three in the morning almost every day for no reason. One of those mornings I stumbled into the bathroom, and frustrated that I hadn’t been able to find my glasses, looked in the case one more time even though I knew they weren’t there.

Lo and behold, there they were. Hubs later said he had nothing to do with it. I immediately began praying, thanking God for waking me up at three in the morning to remind me of how much I love the Trinity. Demons really hate it when you use their antics as opportunities to praise God.

I haven’t had a problem with missing glasses or waking up in the middle of the night since then. 😃
 
Pray and ask St. Anthony to help you find those lost rosaries.

On the side, set up a camera and leave a chunk of cheese next to a new set of rosaries. 😃
 
Hi Brian. Sorry about the missing Rosary’s. Does anyone else have access to your work area? If not… then, yes. It’s strange that the Rosary’s have disappeared.

I suppose you could try once more… and maybe this time… hide a video cam. Perhaps you can catch the culprit in the act! God bless.

Some other birds will do the same thing…

A pack rat is the first thing that came to my mind as well (actually, a squirrel, but its the same difference).

On a side note, a squirrel once stole a friend’s hearing aids.
 
I have a cat that stay’s in the shop, I don’t think a squirrel or rat would fare well with him there. You also would have to use some nippers to remove the last rosery, as mentioned before, the strapping/zip tie was the same stuff they use for temporary handcuffs, it would take some serious effort to remove it and you would need tools or a razor to cut it off to remove the rosery.

Well, there’s your answer! The kitty is wildly amused, too. (I have things that appear and disappear at random and there is no one here but me and the felines. They are far too smug not to have anything to do with these antics.)
 
He has never shown any interest in it, there are plenty of things he can play with, and the cat is not capable of tearing off a zip tie, he’s simply not that strong. I’ve had other things turn up missing as well, we would search the house, and with one of the last things, it was my keys. When they re-appear, they also show up somewhere quite obvious and prominent, in places we could not possibly have overlooked. My keys showed up in the dishrack one year later, the dishrack get’s used on a regular basis and believe me, I tore into that one as well just in case earlier.

Yeah, my cats are like that too, especially the male. He hid my silver four-way medal and I didn’t find it for months! He loves to run off with things, esp. shiny items. I have to hide my rosary under a book on my nightstand because he thinks it’s a big, long cat-toy. :rolleyes:

Forgive me for being serious a moment but have these rosaries been blessed by a priest? I lost all five of my unblessed rosaries this one time. I stopped losing them when I started getting them blessed and started habitually saying the prayer to St. Michael after using them.

No, they weren’t blessed, that is a good idea, I’ll have that done with the next one. I was also going to ask the priest if I could have some holy water to keep in that place as well, what do you think?

A little more to this story, this house was built in 1913 so I imagine it has a history. Last year I was digging in the back yard and I found a slab of stones mortered together buried around a foot under the ground. Upon further excevation, it came out to be 4’ by 8’, I don’t know what is underneath it, the shovel broke and the replacement shovel turned up missing. From what I researched about it via. google, it may be a grave because they use slabs to anchor the grave stone upon, or it has been done that way in the past.

Not sure if this is tied to it, I am curious to know what it is though, and if it is a grave site, I suppose putting up a marker might be a good idea, I could have stirred up a troubled soul in doing this or something? Then again, it might just be some really old foundation to some storage shed, who know’s…

i would… uh… call the local authorities. my rents found something similar on their property and similar activities have been occurring in their home.
additionally, i’d get your house and the rosaries blessed. and get your feline and st. francis medal.

The suggestion of having the rosary blessed is an excellent idea. I’d recommend asking the priest to bless your house as well.
