Today me and my dad argued. He told me something, and i dont know if any of you have ever had this, but sometimes, i will repeat myself or repeat something someone just said. I repeated a phrase my dad told me, and it was a no fly phrase, i realised what i had just said out of my mouth and i was scared it was a mortal sin. Is having something slip out of your mouth without you intending to say it a mortal sin??

Also, i have two concerns with impure thoughts
  1. Is it a mortal sin to have a thought pop in your head, i tried not to dwell on it, and i didnt enjoy it, also i tried to blank my mind, would this still make this thought a mortal sin??
  2. Sometimes i will have a song playing in my head, and since i saw the particular music video for the song, i tried not to remember some parts as they werent exactly chaste, i tried to clear my mind, and skip to the next parts of the video that didnt have any of that impure stuff. Still a mortal sin??
Now, for ommiting something…

Me and my dad were painting a funeral home today, and he kept dumping the dirty paint water (its not paint, its water that has paint in it from the brushes and rollers, so it doesnt exactly damage, as it washes off the lawn pretty easily, as least i would think), i didnt want to, and i asked the Dad of the gentleman who owned the funeral home as for a agreeable place to dump the dirty water. I asked, but i didnt tell him that my dad was dumping the water in the grass, garden etc… i didnt want my dad to get mad, and i didnt want any part of it, long and short of it, is this a mortal sin??

Please help dear readers, i feel hopeless, and heavy, i feel like i am under attack and doomed for death and hell. Please pray for me, and please help answer these pressing questions!!

I feel like i am at the end of my rope, that i am abandonded, a sinner awaitning hell, and i fear dying!!! i feel so laid down, the cross digs into my shoudler, but for you LORD, i carry it, but ONLY FOR YOU!!

Talk to your priest.

Because you wont believe anything we say anyway.

i tend to be too analytica i know, but i still would appreciate some feedback. Im scared of dying before i get a chance to get to my Priest!!

Nothing you have mentioned sounds like mortal sin to me, and that’s coming from someone who is also scrupulous. If you repeated what your dad said WITHOUT THINKING, it is merely a venial sin (I’m not implying venial sin is a good thing…just saying it’s not mortal.) As for the thoughts, you did not want them and tried to put them out of your head as best you could–not even venial. As for the paint water, where did the man want you to dump it? Did your dad then follow his instructions after he gave them? I don’t think I would have “tattled” on my dad either…you’re not even sure what he did with the paint water was harmful. I’m not sure either really. I’ve always rinsed my paint brushes in the sink or out on the patio. I wouldn’t throw a gallon of paint in the trash without it being dried or dump it all down the sink…that’s a bit different I think. Josh, I understand EXACTLY how you feel…I’ve been feeling “condemned” all day myself…going over and over something in my head trying to figure out if I’ve mortally sinned or not. I guess if I have to think about it that much, then I haven’t mortally sinned because then I would KNOW it and I would be going to Confession in the morning for sure. It’s the disease of OCD…it stinks but I am thinking you are in the same place I’m in…I know Jesus wants me to TRUST Him…to use my brain and not my feelings to decide whether or not I should go to Communion or Confession. It’s very scary, I know. I’ll say a prayer for you, if you say one for me!

Sorry to say,but this sounds like a “Thomas Aquinas” death-bed confession.Although it’s good to fortify your interior castle and keep watch,it’s not good to fall in to scruples."Virtue lies in the middle."You’re taking an extreme view and looking for evil where there is no evil.Find a balance or you will inherit a pendulum effect;you will go from one extreme to another,e.g.,"extremely religious to extremely worldly."Concentrate on one fault, then once conquered move to another.Step by step.Catechism knowledge is best to identify what is what.If still not certain seek spiritual direction by a priest.

All the best.

You have an extreme level of scrupulosity, based on your many recent posts.

You must stop posting and start talking to your priest. You need some very intensive care, and cannot rely on the internet for the help you need.

PLEASE go talk to your priest.

Listen to Veronica. She has this right. IKe & Bravo 6 too has good advise.

If these are your sins, make acts of humility and gratitude for the Lord has loved you much!!!

God bless
