No, this is not about my marriage.
Our priest this evening decided to forgo the Scripture passage in favor of talking about things that have gone wrong in the world, as well as to discuss Herod and the Holy Innocents. Of course the shooting in CT was the impetus for the homily. And please donât get me wrong, that was a horrible tragedy and itâs awful that those children and adults were killed. I have been praying for them and for their families since I heard about it yesterday morning.
Then the priest mentioned Syria. OK, wellâŚWhy did he pick Syria out of every other locationâŚWhy not the Sudan, where Catholics are being slaughtered? Or any other area where Catholics and Christians are being killed for their faith. Well, OK, Father. That was your prerogative, I suppose.
But thenâŚabsolutely NO mention of abortion. Yesterday, over 3,000 innocents were slaughtered in their mothersâ wombs, and those were the most innocent victims who had not even drawn a breath. Did anyone mourn for them? Did anyone in high offices shed a tear for them?

Itâs as if no one even cares. Sometimes I just feel so alone.
