OK…this is kind of personal.

But sometimes, I wake up masterbating and having an orgasm. It happened this morning.

I stopped masterbating successfully about 2 years ago and now that I now longer do it when I’m awake, my body must have a need for the release b/c now it happens in my sleep especially when my husband and I haven’t made love for a while.

I feel guilty about it still like I’m sinning b/c I’m still half awake when it’s happening. I also know it’s very rare for this to happen to a woman.

I am a guy, but, these works for me, maybe they will work for you. The main reason why this happens is often due having an excess of an energy before going to bed.

there are a few tricks to make it more unlikely to happen.

1- keep yourself physically busy through the day so you’re tired by the time you go to bed.

2- make sure you go to bed with an empty stomach. This is the best advice I can give you. For some reason, fasting, and going to bed a little bit hungry completely nullifies any sexual urges.

we’ll keep you in our prayers.

For me that would prevent me getting a good night’s sleep. I can’t sleep well if I’m hungry.

I don’t think in fact there’s any need for this kind of advice. It happens in her sleep, so it’s no sin. Enough with the guilt trips for a natural occurrence already!

Yep, I think the Church would consider it sinful only if it were a deliberate act.

BTW, orgasm during sleep occurs somewhat less frequently in women than in men, but it is common. So that is one less thing for Serap to be worry about.

The thing is that it happens when I’m in REM (dream state) and I wake up automatically b/c I’m having an “O” and I remember my dream also at that moment and it’s rarely a sexual dream. It’s just so strange. Then I go right back to sleep and when I wake up for the day, I can no longer remember the dream.

You’re not alone, Serap. 😊 The less you fret about it, the less it will bother you, and the less it will happen…IMHO. But, even if it does happen, it’s not a deliberate sin since you can’t have full knowledge of your actions while sleeping.

Trying to figure out what’s going on in your brain during dreams is like playing pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey. I suggest saving yourself the frustration and just not worrying about it.

This happens to me too every couple months and most of the time it occurs without me touching myself (that I’m aware of, I wake up with my hands under my head, so…) Spontaneous orgasm

I’m glad to hear it isn’t a sin.
