Lately I see everyone around me matched up or in a good relationship or having lots of success. It’s gets very hard sometimes to be happy for them when you seem to be living alone and without much good luck. The last guy I dated as posted in another thread hit me with a wammie then just disaappeared. My house has been nothing but a money pit and will continue to be so for at least the next few years. I’m out of money and out of inspiration to do much. Prayers don’t seem to help either. It seems god wants me alone and in perpectual debt. Doesn’t make much sense but there it is. I think my house my have bad elements as well. I had it blessed but frankly that hasn’t helped much.

I have definitely been there- recently, in fact.

Desolation is a dark dark place to be, but it’s also an excellent opportunity to grow spiritually. I remember feeling like I would never work my way out of desolation and I would never be connected to a strong meaningful prayer life again. But here I am.

Sometimes physical and emotional desolation can lead to severe spiritual desolation. That is how it went with me. It put me in a big rut. Just remember that God wants what is best for you and that He really knows what he is doing. Keep praying even if it just feels like you are going through the motions, because one day the skies will open, the clouds will clear, and God’s light will smack you right in the face again.

There are many good people here who I’m sure will pray for you, including me.

Back when I was unhappily unmarried, I made this same observation to an astute friend. She told me I have no idea what is going on behind closed doors - they might not be as happy as they appear.

I have been unhappily married for many years (tho it’s getting better - we’re finally communicating!), but no one on the outside would have been able to guess at our problems.

Um - no. To both. You have not yet reached the end of your life, so you don’t know if you will remain alone. As for the debt, I know from personal experience that God will not magically make my past bad decisions and their consequences go away. The best outcome is to learn from the experience.

Yeah I know how you feel. Been there recently myself. Still kinda there but slowly working my way out. For the most part I am doing well but every once and awhile when I have down time or am alone that feeling comes creeping back.
