I would like to ask for your prayers, please.
I heard from my son today. He is a soldier in Iraq who does a very dangerous job, and he informed me that he would not be able to communicate again until July! He is going out on a mission to a place without comunication, and I could feel the unspoken concern in his message to me. I promised that I would keep him and his unit in my prayers until we could speak (email) again. I said that until then, we would go through God for love and comfort.
please ask the Lord to keep them and the Iraqi people safe in body and spirit. I know he and his men rely on our prayers and feel their power.

Thank you

Heavenly Father,

Send the Spirit of Joshua and Elijah on the soldiers in the desert. When I was deployed, you kept your hand on me. When my husband was deployed several times, you kept your hand on him. Watch over iserve’s family and make sure that our soldiers are trained hard like silver refined into gold for Your will.

Through Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Dear mother, I will keep your son, and you, in all my prayers and Masses. I ask God to help you get through these anxious times with confidence that Jesus is taking care of your son.

Dear Jesus, please shield this loved son, and all his companions from danger and fear. Please help them to know and grow in Your presence.

God bless you, Trishie
A hug from all of us.:grouphug:

I my self have been to Iraq. I pray every day for all of my fellow brothers. I pray for safety over your son. And also for you as a parent that you will feel peace. God Bless.

Praying very hard for your son and all military daily. My youngest son flew more than 100 combat missions during his 22 year career, so I know what you’re going through. God bless you all.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Psalm 17 (18)

You have given me the shield of your salvation; your right hand holds me up; by answering me, you give me greatness.
You have stretched out the length of my stride, my feet do not weaken.
I pursue my enemies and surround them; I do not turn back until they are no more.
I smash them to pieces, they cannot stand, they fall beneath my feet.
You have wrapped me round with strength for war, and made my attackers fall under me.

You turned my enemies’ backs on me, you destroyed those who hated me.
They cried out, but there was no-one to save them; they cried to the Lord, but he did not hear.
I have ground them up until they are dust in the wind, trodden them down like the mud of the street.
You have delivered me from the murmurings of the people and placed me at the head of the nations.
A people I do not even know serves me – at a mere rumour of my orders, they obey.
The children of strangers beg for my favour; they hide away and tremble where they hide.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Tucking your son into the Sacred Heart of Jesus…

Prayers for your whole family, comfort and peace.

I have lost an uncle in Afganistan, I know the pain a death in the family can cause. I will pray for your son’s safe return. :signofcross:

Praying for your son and all military. Just learned, a family friend, Sammy will be returning for his third tour in Iraq and request prayers for him also. Sammy didn’t have to go back but wants to be with his troops.

Praying for your intentions…

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Thank you all- I cut and pasted the whole string to Jims military email so that when they get in, this unit can see the prayers that have held them safe and strong.

Lord of the Powers be with us, for in times of distress we have no other help but You.
Lord of the Powers, have mercy on this sons and all sons and daugthers in Iraq wherever they may be, and their families.
God bless you all!

The Prayer to St. Michael

*Holy Michael Archangel, defend us in battle,
Protect us from the wickedness and snares of the devil,
May the LORD rebuke him, we humbly pray.
And, Do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
By the power of GOD, thrust into hell,
Satan and all of the evil spirits
Who wander the world seeking the ruin of souls.

**Amen.

***Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

*Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that utterance may be given me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. *

Ephesians 6:10-20 RSV

May the Lord hold your son and his friends in the palm of His hand and may He protect them from all harm.

Your Brother in Christ, Michael
