Son just not behaving

Please pray for my son …he is only 5 but extremely defiant and rude . Most of this behaviour is at home and I am not able to control him. It can be very draining on all handling him when he behaves badly. Otherwise he is smart , and intelligent and actually very quiet in his school! Please pray that as a parent I am able to guide his behaviour in the right direction. Reading about all kinds of behavioural problems in children has me worried …but I believe prayer has much more amazing results. So please pray that I get the holy spirits guidance and handle my sons issues correctly.

My oldest is a very strong willed child and has been since birth. I feel for you, it can be exhausting!! I would be happy to PM you with book recommendations or other advice if you are interested, but in the meantime please be assured of my prayers. Hang in there, mama!
 
Praying that you receive guidance from the Holy Spirit and others in a position to help you to address the issues with your son. May God bless you both as you travel through these waters.

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal newtocatholican’s Son. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into newtocatholican’s Son’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Organise a meeting with his class teacher.
Say blatantly, “In school or class, does my son ever…”
(mention some possible examples of things he has done at home). You may be surprised, the teacher may admit he does the same thing in school.

Ask his teacher what behaviour reward and punishment system is being used in school.

Use this system at home. The reward system at school works for him.

My son is also five and he can also be defiant, I don’t know whether it is to do with school or not as it seemed to begin more when he started school.

Like myself, my son is worse when he is bored or when he doesn’t understand.

Loving God,
You are the giver of all we possess,

All the books by Dr Ray Guarendi are very good. He’s a devout Catholic and he and his wife are raising 10 kids.
My daughter was hard to handle and I was young when I had her and had no experience with kids. I didn’t do her any favors by not being strict, not following through and sticking with a discipline plan, trying to explain" everything all the time. Kids will have you explaining things till you’re blue in the face and it’s only because they want it their way.
Honestly, I was afraid, afraid to damage her emotionally, even now as an adult she is undisciplined and this only has made life hard for her.

My son’s teacher said I was a good teacher but not a good disciplinarian. I would teach right behavior but was not good at giving consequences when my son disobeyed. Rewarding good behavior and denying privileges for misbehavior works. It has to be consistent. I will pray for you.
