Why is it that Jesus is called the Son of Man in some portions of the Bible?
It is a link to an old testament prophecy. The old testament was in many respects the blueprint for the new. Many of the sayings that Christ said were direct quotes of old testament passages. Remember that Christ was generally thought of as an extremely gifted teacher rabbi and interpretor of the Jewish Law by his contemporaries. The realization that He was indeed divine came later, after his death and resurrection. I believe the Son of Man reference that is usually referred to came from the Book of Daniel and is as follows:Why is it that Jesus is called the Son of Man in some portions of the Bible?
It is a Messianic title take from Daniel 7:13-14Why is it that Jesus is called the Son of Man in some portions of the Bible?
I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
Some have, unfortunately, taken this title as something to do with Christ’s humility, but the text does not support this. It has to do with His Supreme Sacred Kingship as God.And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
