Why is “Lead Kindly Light” written by SAINT John Neumann not in our Catholic hymnals by many Protestant hymns are, albeit some with words changed to more Catholic ones, and some really atrocious Catholic praise songs aree allowed to remain in the hymnals when they should have been gotten rid of long ago.

I think that one is by Blessed John Henry Newman. It’s easy to get those two confused.

I don’t know but I honestly think that there’s a bias in the Catholic liturgical music scene. They don’t like hymns of the past, especially by saints or holy persons. Everything has to be the latest and newest. The problem there is that we never really get to know the hymns that well before they change them again.

That’s aside from the fact that many of the newer hymns do not have any real depth.

Wouldn’t want to risk having any theology in the music or anything.
