There is a song on youtube uploaded by David Fely. I really like this version and was wondering if anyone knew who the artist is?

Text and music by Carey Landry (1975). It’s one of my favorites, but has fallen out of favor around here, for liturgical use.

Yeah, they used it to death and now the Choir directors don’t use it very much.

It’s more listening music than singing music. Very difficult rhythms for a congregation to reproduce… all those rests, coming in on microbeats that are hard for even a somewhat musical lay person to count.

Kind of like the “official” notation of “Be Not Afraid.” Rhythmically impossible for an average congregation.

A favorite of mine. We used this at our wedding for the devotionto Mary part. I actually intensely dislike Ave Maria so this was a much better choice for us.

I love this song. We sang it all the time at Mass when I was a kid. I don’t think I’ve heard it at Mass in a couple decades but I have a couple different mp3 versions of it.

My parish, St. Mary’s, has been known to use it on Marian feast days. I have to admit it’s not one of my favorites. Among contemporary Marian hymns, I prefer “Sing Of Mary, Pure And Lowly”.
