There have been many good suggestions, but I would like to expand a little on this one. It was a popular song, but it has a strong spiritual content, especially in the overlooked second verse, and it has been picked up by many gospel soloists. I play it as a euphonium solo, using an accompaniment track that I bought in a gospel bookstore.“You raise me up.”
Well, that does make sense, if you put it that way. Thanks for the explanation.I have always understood it as setting someone free from their sins; as I was once a prisoner of my own sins and God set me free.
