Another Dumb Blonde - Hoku

And a bonus, just for you, Jeanne_S,

Happy Birthday To You - Stevie Wonder 😄

There’s a Johnny Mathis special airing during the current PBS fund drive. Be on the lookout for it when your station has its fund drive.
Thank you, Lily. You are thoughtful. PBS stations have been running that one for several years. I have the DVD! I don’t watch it very often, though. I travel with John now. We had a show in Thackerville, OK last night. Was nice, but I’ll be glad to get home to LA. I have a surgeon appointment Monday morning! Looking forward to it as you were last week!

Did your PBS station chop up the special the way they do my Moody Blues? For years, all they showed was Red Rocks. And Mamsie would run in the other room when John began singing. (She loved the rest of the Band. But John terrified her.)

Then they showed the Hall Of Fame special (Royal Albert Hall). Mamsie still ran when John opened his mouth. (John thought it was funny when I told him.)

And finally, the Greek Theatre show which I’d seen live. That one, practically the whole first set was deleted. And that made me mad. Mamsie went up to the TV when Justin started singing and put her paw up to him. (I have pics.) Then she’d flop over like she was fainting. I told her I’d failed her. I tried to raise her to be a John Girl and she was a Justinite (which Justin found funny).

The only PBS airing she (having crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2012) and I have missed is the Days Of Future Passed 50th Anniversary. It aired while I had the flu and wasn’t in our listings. (One of my friends caught the last bit of the commercial for it so didn’t know if it was on its own or part of another show. Turned out it aired as part of Great Performances.) So I don’t know if that has been chopped up too or not. I expect it has since the Band performed more than just the DOFP album. I’d have DVR’d it if I’d known it was going to air. Of course, I was so out of it that I probably wouldn’t have remembered recording it.

I remember that show tho. It occurred after John’s birthday. (He got a cake after the Nashville show.) They were here on the hottest day of the year. (102F with humidity over 115F). I nearly passed out twice from heat exhaustion when I arrived at the Ryman and after the concert because the temps were still so hot leaving the venue. (Thank God for Baskin Robbins.)

Even so, the show was worth it esp when you have VIP seats. I’m waiting on my DVD of the concert to arrive but want to see PBS’s hatchet job too so that I know what they didn’t show.

Easy to Love - Johnny Mathis

(Yes, Lily, PBS chops up the Johnny Mathis special, too! It’s really not that much fun to watch it’s chopped up so much. They just want people to donate and buy the DVD. I’d be more inclined to donate if they showed us the entire show.

Nashville was burning up the day of the concert! Temperatures of 102 are bad enough, but when you have humidity, too, it’s awful! Hard to endure. I remember hot, hot days visiting family in the east. California gets hot - we literally burn sometimes! - but we have low humidity. Heat is better than the cold, though! At least to me.)
