So, what route did you take for this weekend since it is part of the Christmas Season? For me, I felt that a full repertoire of Christmas Carols again was not the way to go, so I planned songs appropriate to Baptism (water…etc.) and ended the season by closing with “Joy To The World.”

"Songs of Thankfulness and Praise " is very appropriate for the time from Epiphany to the Baptism of the Lord.

Baptism of the Lord is always a tricky one. There have been years where we have done all Christmas carols and years where we did a mix of Christmas and ordinary. We used one Christmas hymn: “Of the Father’s Love Begotten,” and the other hymns were ones that pertain to baptism.

“On Jordan’s Bank the Baptist Cry”. Every week since the start of Advent.

Our choir resurrected Carey Landry’s “The Spirit Is a-Moving”. All I could think of was “The 60s called, they want their bad songs back.”

Also on the list were

Bob Hurd’s “Gather Your People”
David Hass’s “Holy Is Your Name” (Magnificat) - TUNE “Wild Mountain Thyme”
