For some football is a religion . 😀

“” Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that. " (Bill Shankly , manager of Liverpool FC 1959-1974) .

The ‘Shankly Gates’ entrance to Liverpool’s home stadium .

The song which became the anthem of Liverpool FC .

If you were in junior high or high school in the 70s, Kansas songs were bound to show up at some prayer service or in some religion class or other

This girl is also getting a lot of notices, but for her positive music…

She explains the album a bit more here…

We all need to look UP, especially when we’re down!

Another oldie from when I was a young child.
I understand there was quite the “Jesus movement” in the early 70s when lots of people were coming off drugs or looking for something other than drugs.

While I’m not terribly familiar with Kansas, their standard “Carry On Wayward Son” has been covered by at least two Christian bands that I know of: all-female rock band Rachel Rachel in the early '90s, and Catholic band Critical Mass a number of years later.

I always find “Desire” by Ryan Adams to have a spiritual resonance.

I have to be careful here and I know this is a little more on the jazzy side, but I have found the songs of this Scandinavian artist to be very inspirational (His father is a Norwegian gospel pioneer)…Not all of his songs are explicitly religious (and some more rock than pop), but many of them have related to the struggles of life…Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ole Borud!

He did honor his mom and wrote her a very special song, so I give him props on that, at least…

I’m not into everything he’s done, but “Chi-Rho”, “Shakin’ The Ground”, “Keep Movin’” and “Stepping Up” are a few worth searching out, if you’re a soul, funk or jazz fan looking for more inspiration…

Whenever I feel low and need some inspiration (which unfortunately does happen to all of us sometimes) to “keep movin’”, this one is a good one and very upbeat…I know He will see me through…

When I paraphrase Ole ("I know He will see you through…), I know that’s the truth, because He’s seen me through many times before and will again when I pray and keep the faith…Good things to keep in mind!

“Doors close…and you know it…New doors will open wide…Press forward…Keep moving on!”
