Son's driving

We need to get him competent on the following:

1. Keeping away from the right curb
2. Not charging up behind stopped cars
3. Looking quickly over his shoulder before changing lanes
4. Not stopping 20 feet from where he needs to

Hubby says that we are going to have to gimp along our old car with the instructor brake and not get another one. My son desperately needs more practice.

He drove us to church, then the car shop today. Also drove back. The trip back was worse than up. He's high functioning Autism, and has had his license about a year, but has done only around-town driving.

TIA

Blessings,

One thing I would add, I'd advise keeping unprotected left turns to a minimum. Sometimes they're unavoidable, but they are inherently dangerous. I avoid them whenever I can. You have to look both ways, and be aware of the oncoming traffic, all at the same time, and there is such a thing as cars "coming out of nowhere".

It is unfortunate, but practice is about the only thing I know of that would help.

I would also see to equipping the car with blind spot cameras as well as front and rear cameras.
It really helps to have a screen available to show you what you cannot otherwise see.

Prayers offered. Not just for his safety, but for your insurance premiums.
