No, because “contrition”, feeling/showing remorse for one’s actions, is required for one to receive absolution.

This topic has been adressed in the “Ask an Apologist,” and from what I understand the response is that repentance does not have to be emotional. If you regret your actions because you understand that you did something wrong and seek forgiveness, then you can receive a valid absolution. You don’t have to be emotionally sad or distraught per se.

Feelings do not always do what we would like.
But noting that one is “going through the motions” ?? not sure what is meant. The person needs to be contrite which is more a matter of the will than the emotions (emotions may not come as one would like…but one is repentant…contrite…amended…). The person can discuss it with the Priest who can ask questions etc.
