Sorry Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons, Jesus is God.

No we are not Trinitarians as defined in the Nicene creed. The LDS believe the Father and Son have physical bodys and that man was literally made in the “image and likeness of God” (Gen 1:26) and that Jesus is the only begotten Son of the Father. (1 John 4:9)
Thank you. You have cleared up a misconception I had about LDS beliefs. I appreciate that.

We do worship Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Jesus Christ was sent to us by the Father. (John 17:3) Jesus is our brother. He has a separate role in our worship of our Father. Jesus is our advocate (1 John 2:1-2) and the only one who can bring us back to the Father.

"Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. (John 20:17) emphasis added

We call the God we worship, “Our Father in Heaven.”
“We do worship Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.”
"We call the God we worship, “Our Father in Heaven.”

It’s kind of hazy.

PS
Forgot to say: God is an eternal, intimate Union of Be-ing, Know-ing and Lov-ing.
“We do worship Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.”

That`s a good point. It might be meant to be hazy.

In the 1970s, my mother was given LDS literature by Mormon missionaries. In hindsight, nowhere did it list core LDS beliefs. There were lots of terms which sounded OK on the surface…

About 10 years ago, i had an encounter with LDS missionaries (5:30pm on New Years Eve!), and asked them whether they believe God is the Creator of the Universe. The dominant one replied: "We believe God created the Earth and everything in it." In other words, he dodged the question. But, what he didnt say (“No.”) was obvious to someone who was already aware of some of their core beliefs.

At least some of mtolympus posts seem the same: a refusal to give a STRAIGHT answer to a STRAIGHT question. Theres a refusal to be pinned down. The only conclusion i can reach is that its part of LDS (missionary?) training. The unwary are caught by the orthodox-sounding words/terms/phrases which in fact dont have the same meaning as the Church gives them. They dont learn the truth until theyve been securely roped in.

Words which have different meanings for different groups are a trap for the unwary.

Apology if i`m wrong; but the evidence is there. 🤷

Others do the same, of course. The Seventh Day Adventists say they`re Trinitarian, but their idea of the Blessed Trinity is far removed from orthodoxy.
Islam says: “We love Jesus too!” In isolation, that sounds great…

The Lord Jesus is also in heaven with the Heavenly Father and the Lord has left the Holy Spirit, the comforter to guide us.

It is the resurrected and glorified Lord Jesus Who stands before the Heavenly Father at the altar.

So Christ is there as well with the Father in Heaven.

“We do worship Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.”

Hazy perhaps, but true. Paul believed the same: “To us there is but one God the Father… and one Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor.8:6)

That is not true. Nowhere does it say that Paul believed God was once a sinful man.

Do you worship Jesus Christ? A simple yes or no will do .

Thanks.
Theres not much chance of that. Notice how pointed questions are ignored/deflected/only half-answered. Until what i said in*** Post #41 ***is debunked, ill go on believing it.

As said earlier, words are also given different meanings.

It has to be part of training! Proteus. 🤷

The Jehovahs Witnesses are up-front with their beliefs. Why cant others?

I am making a reply only to the title to of the thread…

Ummm…Mormons believe that Christ is God…or at least “a” god…He is believed to be part of the God head…

How do you deal with the other gods, example “the God we worship” as if there are more “god(s)” to be had? Houston, we have a problem… See OT where God says: “I know of no other” - god that is.

Why would the LDS question the Schema of the Jews? EXPLAIN the different meaning of the Hebrew words: echad & yachid - >both mean “one”. or does anyone speak Hebrew @ HQ especially for the last 175 years.

Do you believe in the Old Testament/Covenant & New Testament/Covenant as God has preserved it for centuries long before some back water, American teen-ager & assoc’s got hands on it? LDS parrot back the line re: the Bible “insofar as it is translated correctly”, explain what scholarship is involved in that gem. Who in your world determines HOW the scriptures are correctly translated and what are their credentials for doing so?

Here’s a thought: IF Jesus is YOUR brother AND Jesus & Satan are “brothers”, then Satan MUST be YOUR BROTHER! :rotfl: Well, Satan is not MY brother; He’s a created, angelic, fallen individual being without a human body but with a soul that is eternal but NOT DIVINE in NATURE.

I assume all of this has been dumped on the trusting & unsuspecting due to a distinct, complete lack of scholarship.

I answered this question in posts #37 and #45. Is there a problem if I use scripture to explain why I believe what I believe?

Uh, Uh forgot.

Dead Sea Scrolls do a lot to back up Catholic Bible Translation. (Also, isn’t there over 5000 extant copies in different languages floating around the scholarly world written long before Prot revolt? 4QMMT is quite remarkable). Ancient writings strongly assert just who exactly God the Father, Son & Spirit are. The Didache, Shepherd of Hermes, Protoevangelium of James as well as centuries of stellar writings from the fabulous Early Church Fathers. The stunning consistancy of scripture is miraculous. WE KNOW who GOD IS - it’s not merely anyone’s “opinion”, mine included. it’s REALITY at it’s BEST! 😃

What was that about the Bible “insofar as it is translated correctly…” LDS way late to the party…

Dont mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?🤷

i`m throwing down the gauntlet.
Are you going to debunk what i said on Post #41?

Your answers are vague, and a lot of us here know it.
Is this an LDS tactic?

ive heard that, as well. **IF** its true, don`t expect a straight answer.

Wrestling with an eel would have to be easier! 🤷

In my 300+ posts I have never used this as an excuse. I use the Bible to explain almost everything I write. Not sure I understand your critisizm here.

30,000+ non-Catholic denominations use the Bible as “proof” of their “orthodoxy”.
The Father of lies has been known to quote Scripture. Jesus, Himself can testify to that.

Sorry, its not my job to debunk what everybody says. I look for what I believe are sincere and specific questions or misconceptions to address.

Tell me which post that my answer is vague and I will try to do better. (besure to debunk the scriptures that I quote.)

What do you consider a straight answer to a loaded question used extensively in anti-mormon literature?
Wrestling with an eel would have to be easier! :shrug
