How can One relate one’s Soul with its Spirit, are they one & the same or two different entities :
man is a being both spiritual and material: soul and body. The soul animates the body.

A spirit is a being that is singly spiritual.
A spirit can dwell in a soul like a body dwells in a house.
When we are baptized,we receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our Soul.
Thus the baptized is still body and soul but enjoys the presence in the Soul of the Holy Spirit.

NewAdvent (newadvent.org/cathen/14153a.htm) had this to say on the subject:
This Pauline system, presented to a world already prepossessed in favour of a quasi-Platonic Dualism, occasioned one of the earliest widespread forms of error among Christian writers – the doctrine of the Trichotomy. According to this, man, perfect man (teleios) consists of three parts: body, soul, spirit (soma, psyche, pneuma). Body and soul come by natural generation; spirit is given to the regenerate Christian alone.

You should read Theology for Beginners by Sheed. He has a good explanation.

A soul is the lifeforce that animates a living creature. A cat, dog, tree has a soul since they are alive. Our souls happen to be spirits as well. Since they are spirits they are immoratal, i.e. live forever once they are created, and they do no occupy space. Our soul is different from that of a dog’s since the dog’s soul dies when its body dies. Our Spirit is different than that of an angel since our spirit was made to occupy a body. When we are in heavan we will be completely satisfied yet we will realize the absence of our body. That is why God will eventually give us perfected bodies.
