šŸ‘ I agree…we are there to receive the eucharist not to be in a club or popularity contest.
The Word made Flesh is what happens at the Mass.

Interesting that the first part of the Mass is called the Liturgy of the Word and our hearts are opened to the Scriptures (The Word) and

the second part of the Mass is called the Liturgy of the Eucharist (Jesus (His Body (Flesh) hidden in the Most Holy Eucharist) that He commands us to partake of:

ā€œTruly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in himā€ (John 6:53–56).

Mass isn’t primarily a social event. It may be nice to meet friends their and have a chat afterwards, but that is not the reason to go to Mass. I don’t get the, ā€œWhy aren’t people smiling enough?ā€ thing. Why would someone be concerned if another person isn’t smiling? Are we meant to put on a smile in order to telegraph, to others, how we are feeling? We go to Mass to encounter Christ, not to engage in a community social event.
That goes along with why do people feel the need to try setting up singles they meet in church. I’m not there to ā€˜meet’ someone. I’m going to Mass to ā€˜meet up’ with Our Lord. It’s not a singles club. Our last pastor at my former church didn’t like adult singles.::ā•(🤷

Our prime purpose of attending Mass is not to receive the Eucharist. We are there to witness and participate in the sacrifice of Our Lord at Calvary. We are not expected to receive Communion every time we attend Mass, therefore receiving the Eucharist at Mass is not our prime purpose for going to Mass.
