I am a father of five children. I have gotten with some of the other catholic dads in our area and we agree that we want to give our children a good moral foundation to build their lives upon. We have come up with an idea on how to teach our kids in a fun way.
We had some of the children pretend to members of a royal family in an ancient kingdom. Another father and I role-played the part of peasants who had a disagreement. We brought the disagreement before the royal family for them to settle it, and since the King and Queen were busy, it was up to the kids.
The sample scenario we used was a farmer who refused to give a man a job and later caught that man stealing food from his fields to feed his starving family. We let the kids hear both sides of the argument, decide what to do, and make their pronouncement. We, the adults, then critiqued their response from a catholic moral teaching perspective.
The kids loved this and we would like to make it a formal part of our homeschooling effort, but we need a good source of moral questions with answers that we know are right.
Does anyone know of a good source we could use?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
