Southern Baptist release report on history of slavery, racism

As someone who was raised in the SBC in the rural south, I am glad the leadership of the SBC is admitting to the sins of previous generations of Southern Baptist and seeking to bring a change in the church. Confession and repentance will strengthen the Southern Baptist Denomination.

Before the Civil War, most of the US Protestant churches split into northern and southern branches over the slavery issue. This turned into the segregation issue. Sadly, churches remain heavily segregated.
