Hi all - I asked this question in another form - but no one got back to me on it - I wonder if someone could tell me the catholic perspective on space exploration - I have a volunteer opportunity - but I wanted to find out what the Church’s view was first

Thanks for your time!

God created the Universe for you. Go out and see the works of His hand, the beauty of which reflect His glory.

Why would the Church have a view on space exploration?
That has nothing to do with faith or morals.

Well, suppose we encounter an intelligent alien life form. Do they believe in the same God as we do? Do we have an obligation to convert them? Did their species fall? If so, have they been redeemed by another crucifixion on another planet? What if they believe they need to convert us? Can we attend an AF (Alien Form) Mass, as long as it is approved by the Vulcan Vatican? Or would they be considered Uniates?

These are the types of questions that are bound to come up.

And if they have 6 hands, are they allowed to hold *any *of them at the Our Father?

Alien technology could also be an issue. If we were “beamed up” to the mother ship could we be certain that our souls would accompany us?

Well you shouldn’t care anyway. You don’t believe in God or souls!

As the wise man once said, ‘we’ll cross that bridge when we get there’.

These are moot points until there is any evidence for aliens and transporters (and a load of other irrelevant questions) that isn’t on the SciFi channel.
