Does anyone know where I can buy Spanish holy week Capirotes? Ive been looking all over and can’t find anything like that. Surely there must be someone that sells those here in the US

In the US and in much of the world to wear such a thing would be highly offensive.

There are good ways to show your sorrow like fasting and giving alms and penance during Holy Week.

As only members of a confraternity are permitted to wear the thing, I would suggest you contact the Cathedral in Seville.

There is one group that has them. But I’m sure you know which one that is, and why the symbolism in the U.S. no longer has anything to do with penance or Holy Week. It’s deeply offensive.

That has a disgusting and terrible history in the US. Please don’t wear one here.

I just like the look, also it would be nice for people to see the original purpose.

No, it would stir up fear and outrage. There would be not even one thing “nice” about it.

It’s hard to imagine someone in the US who “likes the look.” Its very specific symbolism in American history cannot be reclaimed by someone wearing it while feigning innocence about its meaning in this country.

While it would be nice for people to see and realize the original purpose, living in the South, I guarantee you there is only one association people will make seeing you in one. You don’t want it, believe me.
