Hi all. I’m looking for a Spanish Marian hymn for adoration that a Parish I help at is doing on New Years (like at midnight and singing both the Te Deum and Veni Creator). I post this here because we will be following the EF rubrics and I want it to match chant as far as possible. All the other hymns will be Latin Gregorian Chant and so I want it to match. Any ideas? Links are very helpful. Something to match the Christmas Season would be wonderful as well. God reward you!

Do you want a Christmas Carol that is mostly about Mary? How about the hymns we sing in Spanish for the Adoration (¡Oh Víctima de Salvación! (O Salutaris Hostia) or Al Augusto Sacramento (Tantum Ergo))? Do you have a Spanish-speaking community in your parish that could help you? If you know Spanish, I can guide you to the website in Spanish.

Is it a Christmas carol about Mary in Spanish? There are many beautiful christmaas carols on Spanish about Mary. Is that is, I can alsoemtion a few.

No, what I am looking for is basically a Marian Hymn in Spanish Chant. I don’t think a Christmas Carol would match the solemnity, plus everything else is chant. I don’t want anything too “clappy” or “guitary” if that makes sense. Thanks for your help!

But if it is a beautiful Marian Christmas carol… Links to audio? Really the matching the Christmas season is the lowest thing on the list.

Do you have a Spanish-speaking community at your parish? If not, is this an International themed? Do you have someone to chant the hymn in Spanish? I am not trying to be negative. These are real life questions from someone who is Spanish-speaker and has been with the Spanish-speaking Church (it is not a ministry) for years.

I do not know any Spanish chant to our Lady. The hymns to Our Lady that are well known are joyful – except for one that is a tearjerker.

Maybe the website to Our Lady of the Pillar in Spain would have links to Marian Chants. That is the oldest Marian Shrine in the world dating back to St. James the Great who started it. That one might have something.

There is a thread in the CAF about favorite Christmas Carols where I posted some threads to carols in Spanish and I think there is one about Our Lady. However, if you do not know Spanish. . . .

Sorry I cannot help.

I know a couple of Marian Hymns, not Christmas related, but I would be better help if you can tell me if you want something that is about the virgin Mary or specifically about adoration. I remember as a child singing Marian hymn in Spanish"hoy he vuelto madre a recordar" it was pretty Much about a child with a devotion to Mary who grows up gets lost from the faith but eventually the virgin Mary makes the person return to the faith and the person sings to her being grateful because her motherly love never gave up on him. Is a very beautiful song. If you want I will try to find the link and send it to you.

Oh I just found that they have that song in you tube. Again search Hoy he vuelto madre a recordar in you tube and you will be able to listen to it. Also you can Google the lyrics under that name to read the lyrics
