I am going to visit Spain in the fall and I want to bring with me a Spanish Psalter and a Spanish translation of the scriptures (preferably compact) making sure that ALL of the books are there (I already have a Spanish bible with only 66 books. That’s not what I want).

I’ve searched through Catholic, Eastern Catholic and Orthodox materials that I could find and have found nothing whatsoever.

I’m hoping to find the Psalter set up according to the numbering of the Septuagint (translation form the Vulgate is acceptable, since from my understanding that is based on the LXX anyway).

Can anyone help me out with this? I’m not really sure where to find these sorts of things quickly. I’ve even searched in Spanish and have come up with almost nothing.

Thanks!

I thought I’d be able to find something, but I’m also having trouble. I’ll repost if I find something better, but I suggest waiting to get to Spain and looking for a Catholic store there (or Orthodox, of course, if you can find one).

This is one possibility: La Biblia de Jerusalén One of the Modelos de la Biblia is De Bolsillo. Price isn’t too bad.
Spanish Scriptures is another one.

LIBRO SALTERIO DEL BREVIARIO ROMANO PARA CADA DIA DE LA SEMANA

Not sure if you’ll find what you want, but good luck!

I’d look into more about the translation before buying so you don’t get disappointed, but good luck. (Wikipedia has this to say.)

You have posted here in the Eastern Catholicism sub-forum, so I assume you are specifically looking for Spanish-language material used in the Orthodox traditions.

As you know, Spain is a bastion of Catholicism in many respects, but mostly Western form.

In the U.S., we (the Ruthenians at least) have older parishes that are now in hispanic neighborhoods. The Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel in Passaic, NJ is in what is now a decidedly hispanic community. The Marian Shire outside the rectory once held an icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. It was recently restored, and now holds an icon of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

We did set some of our prostopinije (plainchant) to Spanish in order to be respectful to many of the faithful neighbors of the Passaic Cathedral who would come to worship with us on weekdays. I know our parishes in the Eparchy of Phoenix have also developed settings in Spanish. If you are interested, I can dig some up.

I’m happy for you, in that I know your travels to Spain will be rewarding and inspiring, personally and spiritually. One of the ironies turned blessing on the Catholic Church in Spain was the influence of the Moors in general on their culture. Even when visiting very Latin Catholic churches, especially in the south, you get (as an Eastern Christian) a bit of a sense of “strange familiarity”.

Thanks.

I did post here because I was hoping there were some knowledgeable eastern Catholics who might know where to find these sorts of things.

I’ll dig through what’s here for now and see if it’s what I’m looking for. I’ll post back if I can’t find anything.

I was hoping that there might a diocese website with some materials like this. I’m not familiar enough with Catholic sites to know. Thanks again!
