Read the above article about state control over Catholicism coming to Canada. The fact that Canadian Public Broadcasting would even dare to air such programs is proof of what lies in store for Catholics in Canada. This is very, very bad news. Jaypeeto2

The problem is even deeper than this. Canada is already criminally and civilly punishing public reference to the Bible verses condemning homosexual behavior.

As part of the immigration reform, I say we send all the liberals to canada and they can send all their conservatives here. We can even give them Caulifawnia, Oregon, and Washington State.
 
And I have no doubt that America’s “Liberals” feel the same way about Catholicism and traditional Christianity in general as do those on the Left in Canada. I wish there was something we could do, like putting economic sanctions on Canada until they stop violating Christians’ human rights and religious rights. Jaypeeto2

Speaking as a Canadian: Please - don’t send us your problems. We have too many of our own.
 
Two days ago, I told someone that it’s possibly only

a matter of time before statements of religious belief
will be considered “hate speech.”

Well, well.

I guess you’d have to be a cigarette smoker, to grasp
how “society” can decide to “demonize” an activity
that was once considered simply a “bad habit.”
The question is, who gets to decide what constitutes
the “common good.”?

Consider. You can get a police escort, to go to
have an abortion, but if, after the aborition, you
light up a cigarette in the lobby, you can be fined
by the same officers who escorted you in.

I’m not defending smoking *, but I
simply point out that the “right” was established, that
the “common good” can be used as a “lever”
to marginalize 25 million people. [smokers]

It’s the same in the case of the article, referrenced above.

So all who rejoice and take satisfaction in seeing
smokers, freezing in January, outside an office
building, might ponder the *real *cost of their sense
of superiority.

“Society” came after me and my cigarettes, and
people said nothing, and even rejoiced.
Now, “society” may be coming after those with
religious beliefs and who will stop it? After all,
it’s for the “common good”, right?

And* who* decides what the “common good” is?

Who decides what is the “common good”??
Liberals? With their anti God, anti Family, anti NORMALCY values?
Or Godfearing people who know right from wrong and choose the better way? This is why it is so important that Christians organize POLITICALLY and elect ONLY avowedly Godfearing people to public office and NEVER, under ANY circumstances, vote for those who support deadly Sin, even IF they support other “good” causes.
I highly recommend the Traditional Values Coalition, Concerned Women for America (and it’s PAC), Christian Coalition of America, and National Right to Life (and it’s PAC) as organizations we should FUND with our donations and actively SUPPORT by going out every November and VOTING for Godfearing people, so that what is happening in Canada will NEVER happen here in the USA. If we DON’T all do that, it WILL happen here, you can count on it.

Some Christian needs to sue a government somewhere over having THEIR civil rights violated. Somebody with money.

Somebody with enough money to get to the Supreme Court (here), or whatever else they have (elsewhere).

How many “God-fearing” people supported the campaign
against smoking???

Those who are God-fearing and supported that campaign,
helped set loose the idea of the “common good”, IMHO,
whether they meant to or not.

“Ideas have consequences.”

The “idea” that you can “demonize” a group of people
was aided and abetted, again, IMHO, by those who
took it on themselves, religious and secular, to
single out and bully a group of 25 million people.

If people think that they can put that “genie” back
in the bottle…I doubt it.

While people go about their daily business of family
and work, people with various “agendas” start working
on legislators and …BINGO!..“religious hate speech” will
suddenly appear on the law books.

That’s how it was done to smokers, and that’s how
it may well be done to people of religious belief.
And many will say: “How did that happen?”
Ask smokers.

If I seem to be over-stressing this idea, it’s because
when the “campaign” began against smokers, I
thought: Do people realize the consequences of
this kind of thing? Guess what it feels like to be
a smoker and see a TV spot with pigs and chimps
smoking?
I guess I feel that what I thought, then, has come full circle, and what I feared would be the* consequences* “common good”]

This is only one of Canada’s many problems. Canada is one of the countries where just saying something the government doesn’t like can land you in jail. I saw a news story about how Ernst Zundel, who is a “holocaust denier”, was kept in jail for more than a year without being charged with any crime. No matter how you feel about holocaust denial and those who are involved in it, the fact that someone can be thrown in jail and kept there for over a year without being charged just because of something they said or put on the internet is very scary and pretty much rules Canada out as being a free, civilized nation. Out of curiosity I went to his site to see if he is a “national security risk” or “incites hatred” as is claimed and although he does claim the holocaust never happened as we have been taught, I didn’t see anything that crossed the line into hatred or violence against the Jewish people. I did not look at the entire site though, it is really big. If Canada is already controlling what it’s people can say it would not surprise me if they wanted to control what they can pray.
 
Well aside from other things, what I got out of that story is that Canada wants to protect hate against the Jews but not against Christians.

A very good point. They must be like Ebay where you can not sell nazi stuff because it offends jewish people but they had no problem with selling the body of Christ or anything else offensive to Catholics.
 
This is the thing.

eBay, for instance, won’t prohibit the selling of the host because they either A) don’t understand how it can be offensive to anybody, or B) are basically saying that Catholics are just a bunch of mystical hooies, and since our beliefs are archaic or crazy or whatnot it doesn’t matter.

The problem with A) is that I might not understand how a lot of things can be offensive to a lot of people. Even when people don’t understand something being offensive, our societies have still protected them. Unfortunately, a lot of people take it way too far and claim to be offended by all sorts of things, but no matter how ridiculous they are, they are still allowed to file and win law suits and have laws written to protect them.

The problem with B) is that they are knowingly discriminating against, offending, and actually practicing hate speach, but NOBODY IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
 
I boycotted Ebay and they retracted their statement and sent me an email stating they would not allow the sale of sacred host anymore. Please tell me this hasn’t changed.
Canada is in deep deep trouble. Our bishops and priests are already being persecuted. This is a free country, ha. I used to love this country, I’m ashamed of it now. But we have to stand up and fight this tyranny (Paul Martin). If I thought things would be different in the U.S., I would move there but it’s only a matter of time before America will be experiencing concerns for Christianity as we are. President Bush can only hold it off for so long, God bless him. We fought this war before and we will stand up and fight it again. God have mercy on us.
 
Two guys that might be of interest to all of you are Jeremy Bentham (Whom I call “the idiot”) and William Blackstone who influenced our own Bill of Rights.

Bentham was one of Blackstone’s students but they went in completely different directions and that is one reason why our governments are so screwed up today.
 
I earned my B.A Political Science at Public University in the 1990s here in Oklahoma which is fairly conservative. But I knew then that is was only matter of time before liberals would push this kind of thing
  • extending Employment discrimination laws over Churchs thereby trying to force religions to adopt their views. After all the Chairman of my Political Science department had his
    B.A in Communism (A degree in extinct ideaology) obtained in the early 1970s. When in 1994 when the Republicans took over the U.S Congress, My APSA (American Political Science Association) journal which Political Science majors were strongly encouraged to subscribe to basically took the approach that this was deviant, irrational behavior on part of American voters that need to be studied by “Science”.I remember taking a required course in International Law
    in 1995 in which our textbook (And in Class) made mention of the fact that Vatican was enemy of Progress because the Vatican in an alliance with some Muslim nations had successful blocked “progress” at 1993 Women’s Conference.
While I was shocked to hear to the absurb commentary on the CBC, I was not surprised given what I had heard from liberal professors all the time. I remember taking a graduate level class on Latin American Politics in 2000. My professor was filled with rage against the Catholic Church all semester including blaming poverty in Latin America on Catholicism.

I pray for the Church in Canada.
 
Pray also, for these professors. Pray also, for all professors, and all students learning under them.
 
He cant be serious! no logical human being who understands the purpose and function of religion could even consider such a thing!
 
It’s so scary… and ironic too. In his quest to protect “the separation of Church and State” he advocates government interference in religion.

They’re so blind to their own inconsistency.
