Baptism removes the sin… but not all of its consequences.
Ex, I back into my neighbor’s car and dent it badly. My neighbor forgives me. The “sin” is wiped away. We’re friends again. But there are still consequences that have arisen since I did indeed smash up the car: I need to pay for the repairs.
Similarly, at baptism original sin is washed away, along with some of the consequences. But not all the consequences. We still experience suffering, death, discord, interior disorder, etc.
