What do I do if my OCD and my spirituality are at conflict with each other?

For example, I hear that if a prayer is being said it frees so many souls from purgatory every time. My spirituality thinks it is beautiful. My spirituality also thinks, hm, but does it really work like this?
My OCD asks, now HOW do you justify not saying that prayer all day long?

Any thoughts?

Go to your spiritual director and discuss this with them. If you don’t have a trained spiritual director seek one out.
 
Thanks guys.

I am really starting to think I should talk to somebody at church again soon. Because issues like that come up often.

I started this other thread also, “2 roasaries”, which also goes in the direction of spirituality versus compulsion.

I am wondering though how other people handle such things? Or does it just come naturally to most people?

this is a matter for you and your confessor or spiritual director, especially if your OCD has given you a tendency toward scrupulosity. it is very unhealthy for you to ask advice on a general forum like this, you need specific guidance from a good priest who knows you.
