I saw a photo in a magazine of some students at the Franciscan University praying the rosary. They were doing this stance while they were praying: they were kneeling on their right knee and had their right hand folded across their chest. They held the rosary in their left hand. Is anyone familiar with this? Thanks.

I’ve never seen anyone do this while praying the rosary, but… in Imagery depicting the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, she is often shown in this stance as the Archangel Gabriel announces to her God’s will.

They were probably in that position to balance themselves while kneeling… on possibly uneven ground? Or the photographer asked them to do it because he or she needed to capture that they were on their knees?
