in the case of masterbation or other sexual activity by yourself, what would this be called. Lust?

I couldn’t tell you… I’m not a Spaniard. You may want to try Babelfish to see…? Or just confront the thing head on and spell it out to your priest, put aside the embarrassment. I’m sure he’s heard worse sins.

I would call it both lust and greed.

Lust for obvious reasons, and greed because one’s self-pleasuring oneself.

It is also a violation of the sixth commandment… you shall not commit adultery.

When I confessed this sin, I just said ‘self-pleasure’ … they get it. I can’t thank the Holy Spirit enough for granting me the graces sufficient to conquer this sin. It was so embarrassing to have to repeatedly bring that to confession!

Amen! Its one I struggle with now… and still VERY embarrassing to confess.

In confessing it one needs to be “specific” as to the kind (and number)

So one could say masturbation, or self abuse…but one can not be vague like “sin against 6th commandment” for that could be many things…

Person coming to confession:

I accuse myself of:

Masturbation 1x
etc

it could be called an “act of impurity, alone” or as someone else said “self-abuse” which is what it’s called when you look in several examinations of conscience,

but…i really don’t know what it would be in Spanish.
