As far as scandal goes, I think all too often we say “well God knows my heart”, and that gives us a cop-out somewhat. Plinko, I’m not saying this to you directly, this is more general. In my opinion, I think that scandal is a bigger deal in smaller towns. My husband and I live in a small town, a person who worked with him lived across the street, and literally told him once “I saw you through your kitchen window…” No joke. Anyway, because of this super small town and the tendency for everyone to know what was going on, we made sure to avoid any thing that could be seen as scandalous. In fact, one time, I was stranded at his house when we were engaged because of a snow storm (I had been staying with my parents and his parents who live 20 mins and 40 mins away respectively) for 2 days. Nobody questioned us, but I think it had more to do with the fact that we had already made it obvious that we weren’t doing anything improper. I think these issues are lessened (NOT gone) when you live in a big city and nobody knows anybody. I, personally, still think it’s imprudent because at some point there is bound to be temptation.

When we were engaged, we were waiting for my Petrine Privelege case to go through, and our wedding date was up in the air. We hoped on hope that we would be married last summer, but in fact could not know the dates for sure. We signed up for the Catholic Answers cruise because we wanted it to be our honeymoon. We signed up with separate beds in the hotel and on the cruise, because we weren’t sure if we would be married. We were concerned about the sin of scandal, but decided that it would be a close knit group, and we could hopefully explain it. However, this ended up not being an issue thankfully! We were married 5 days before we left! 👍

Yes it can still be cause of scandal…etc

One can stay with friends and family …
The antidote to scandal is a fuller explanation. “I stay over at her house, but I sleep on the couch…” They can make an effort to tell everyone who could possibly know that they spend the night in the same house that they sleep in different rooms. That will not only avoid scandal, but will show the world the extent of their devotion.

Plinko, I really think you should hang a large lighted sign outside, advertising the fact that you two are, indeed, sleeping in separate beds, and in different rooms. Then, put a mini-cam in each room, focused upon the beds, and connect the mini-cams to a pair of monitor screens outside, so everyone can see for themselves that you two are, indeed, doing as you claim. Also, you should record those proceedings and make them available on-line for anyone who thinks that perhaps they blinked and missed a few minutes of intense passion.

Some sage once remarked that “Nosy people don’t live long around here.” I certainly hope that’s the case for any of your inquisitive neighbors who may make it their business to horn in on yours.

Ponyguy
I love it! I’ll start working on the logistics immediately! However, I think you neglected to mention the large neon sign proclaiming “No sex here” 😉

ok, living four hours way, what makes one think op HAS friends or family to stay with? What if their other lived in a place like I do, with no hotels, motels, nothin?

it’s not your fault people can’t mind their own business. For all they know, you could be their cousin
