Some years ago my wife and I did ivf and they froze sperm, they sent me a letter asking whethr I want them to keep it a further 10 years (I don’t) or destroy it.

I feel which ever option I choose I will be sinning.

please help.

my sins of the past have been confessed but don’t know how to respnd, shoud I just ignore them??

Sperm is not individual human life. It is expendable.
As are harvested eggs.

It is only when an egg is *fertilized *that a human life - as we understand it - exists. You’re fine in letting the clinic dispose of the sperm, OP.

consult your priest if unsure but…

Your sin is long gone and I dont think there’s a problem getting it gone (unless the means of capturing the specimen was ok). I dont think it’s sinful to destroy the sample now. I dont think keeping it is sinful but could be problematic. IMHO i’d destroy it and move on. It would be worse that it be mistaken for someone else’s and you father a child you never know about. Plus why let it linger in your mind. Close the chapter and God Bless.

Just sperm, move on.

Fertilized egg, then you must take action to ensure your baby lives and I wouldnt wait 10 years.
This brings up another point.

Wouldn’t “ensuring your baby lives” entail the grave wrong of implanting the children. These are the spiritual and ethical problems you get into when you make that initial decision.

You need to act your pastor on this one. As far as I know the sperm is not a human life. So it should be O.K. to destroy it. But ask your pastor.

The sin was donating the sperm to begin with, which you have repented and confessed.

Destroying the sperm is they only solution in order to ensure that the sperm isn’t used for further evil.
