I have a friend I am talking to online (right now) and she used to be catholic but "got the hall out’ because she is spiritual rather than religious… though talking to her, she has no idea what she believes.
I asked her what she believed in and she said ‘Energies’
and thats all I could really get out of her.
What do I say?
lol

I know many people now who use “spiritual” rather than “religious” even if they’re a classical protestant. It seems most seem to see it as somehow showing they are independant of any ecclesiastic body or something.

Catholic Christians are Religous and Spiritual
-Jesus calls us to worship him in spirit and in truth in the Gospel according to St.John
-The Holy Spirit which came down on Pentecost was a moment of exponential birth of Christianity in the upper room;
-In the OT book of Leviticus God says he must be upheld as holy and must be glorified; In the present we do this through adoration of the Eucharist in the presence of Christ in the tabernacle
-Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever Amen
In Catholicism Religion&Spirituality go hand in hand
-We use our souls and talents to glorifiy God
-We use all our senses
we see Jesus, the cross, the images, the smoke of incense rising
we hear sacred music and the words of the Lord
we smell incense which represents our prayer and praises
we taste and see that the Lord is good.
we touch that which is holy and venerable
-We call upon the intercession of Mary, ANgels and saints
The Spirit (soul) latin: anima within us and The Holy Spirit shed light on the Spiritual elements of Catholicism

You don’t say anything.

You listen.

Bottom line, not all like to know that their lives have order and meaning for someone else! They prefer, the illusion of a random belief, ignorant that it is self-centered!

I did a lot of listening, and when she asked me, I answered, and I think I taught her something, because I told her about love, and she liked it. lol

Thx everyone

I thought “spiritual but not religious” was one of those euphemisms on dating websites. I found out the hard way that guys that checked that box didn’t seem to believe in anything at all. 😦

I think people only say that because they know in there heart that there is something, but they were never taught what religion really was. I used to be like that, then i learned 😃
(I think the exception to this is dating sites, there just dumb :p)

They are indeed. I only tried it because I had a therapist who was pushing it on me because she thought I “didn’t get out enough.” She did me more harm than good, really. Bleah. 🤷
