Yes,okay. You get the credit for being the first one to post Matthew. Does it bother you that I agree? I hope not. 🤷

God Bless.
Haha, not at all… the tongue-sticking-out emote was meant to help convey friendly/teasing intentions. It’s neat that we were on the same page. :newidea: :newidea:

Yes, we are on the same page and I admit sometimes I don’t read all 800 posts before I post. Okay so in ā€œlight of thisā€ I laughed out loud at your light bulbs.

A heavy dose of critical thinking!

Respectfully, there’s not enough of that to go around between Catholics. I wish there were…

No need to fear these silly prophecies!
Respectfully…putting down fellow Catholics for a lack of critical thinking - a bit pompous don’t you think? Just my critical thinking in action 😃

2012 Refuted was produced by a protestant ministry, but the refutation of the doomsday prediction is good. (The last part of the video is the film makers personal religious opinions. You can take them as they are or not).

There are a lot of films being produced by the New Age movement in an attempt to promote their belief in the coming of a New Age and a New Messiah. Many of these films seem to have appeared only on the internet. All of them are centered around the 2012 date.

Watch this short film and you will understand the origin of the 2012 craze, but most of all you’ll understand how some people are reacting to this information. Millennialism is certainly running rampant.

I live in Florida I always have emergency supplies. When Katrina happened I shook my head in disbelief that so many were without basic emergency supplies to help those in the hardest hit areas where supplies would have been lost to flooding.

My advice: be prepared mentally, spiritually and with provisions at all times for any emergency at any time in any year.

See you at the party December 22, 2012 😃

  1. No one knows the day nor the hour.
  2. The Mayan calandar doesn’t foretell doom, it simply ends its calandar. My calandar ended yesterday, doesn’t mean the world was going to end because it reaches 31st Dec.
  3. Its a load of horse leavings. Don’t worry about it.

ā€œBut of that day and hour no one knoweth, not the angels of heaven, but the Father alone.ā€

Matthew 24:36

Better yet, read and study all of Matthew 24 for a better understanding and for the context. It’s basically saying that there will be all kinds of false warnings and false prophets, but the Second Coming is going to be a surprise that no one will expect. In which case, today would be more likely than all of next year. šŸ˜›
What a magnificent thought that today (or any day for that matter!) would be more likely to be the day of the Second Coming than any ā€œpredictionā€ made! And how beautiful the vision of that day can be in our minds if we follow God’s teachings and walk with Him on the journey.

The calendar used by the ancient Maya civilisation does not predict the end of the world in December 2012 as some believe, according to experts.

A new reading of a Maya tablet mentioning the 2012 date suggests that it refers to the end of an era in the calendar, and not an apocalypse.

The date was ā€œa reflection of the day of creationā€, Mayan codes researcher Sven Gronemeyer told AP.

Hey, my friend, the truth ain’t pompous. 😃

Personally, I find pointing and giggling to be highly effective. šŸ˜›

Get ready for afterwards though.

Disasters happen all the time but if something just happens to occur on this day then people will panic. We had lots of earthquakes last year, one could easily happen around that date and that will set people off.

Just a coincidence though, even if it is a magnitude 10.0.

😃

I agree with this one. Everytime I hear about the 2012 prophecy I think about Matthew 24:36.

Happy and Blessed New Year!

Personally, I’d be as sure as I can that I’m in a state of grace – at any time.

I like this too and I agree that keeping our state of grace at any time is more important. Our own personal ā€œdoomsdayā€ i.e. the day of our death can be tomorrow so I think we should be more worried about being ready for the day that God call us to leave this material world and less worried about doomsday prophecies.

The last I read my bible I did not see the Mayans as one of God’s prophets. I was under the impression that end times are about the people of the middle east. Israel has always been the focal point, and the armies that attack it. The Mayan calendar is one of 50 year cycles; it just seems to end in 2012 from what I have read. The great cities have already have meet their doom.

All of God’s people have nothing to fear. The doom is for the one’s who have turned their backs on God, such as Babylon, whoever that actually is. As in Daniel, the stone not cut by human hands will bring an end to the beast. That should be our joy! 🤷

With children, it’s ESSENTIAL to talk to them about it, even if they don’t say anything. I was 11 when September 11 happened, and all my teachers at school told me we were going to be in a nuclear war and the world was going to end. i spent years in terror over this. Children need to be told that this drivel is not Biblically sound, and is a bunch of bull.

Well my way of thinking is this.

First of all it says in the Bible that no one is going to know. Someone already posted that verse I believe šŸ™‚

Second, it could happen today, or tomorrrow, or next year, or 3 years from now, or 50. The best way I can prepare for such a thing is to do what God wants me to do. To love Him and serve Him and do my best so that I can be with Him at the end of it all. If the end of the world is coming soon, I can’t stop it. No one can, so I’m not going to sit there hiding like a coward under my bed. I’m going to live life the way God wants me too šŸ™‚
