When I add more devotions and prayers to my prayer life, I have encountered many attacks and specific attacks such as tension and bad relationships with people in general occurring, people tend to act weird towards me, and I just experience weird and unusual things happen. This does not occur all the time, but it does sure happen every now and then. And I stopped and stuck to the Rosary and just familiar novenas and prayers.

I was thinking to pray the chaplet of St. Michael for daily protection, but I fear that I will experience more attacks in my life.

If anyone could share your experiences and your ways of battling the forces of evil, please share. Thank you!

Sometimes it works that way it seems. Just power through it and trust in Jesus. The one suggestion I have is don’t fall into the traps of blaming things on your spiritual life or trying to control things through prayer.

Otherwise everything will work out.

We were born for spiritual combat. Yes, the closer I get to God, the more I am attacked by evil. I can feel it periodically. So I pray even harder and then I get some relief. But it only lasts for a short while. Which prompts me to pray some more. Its been like this for several years, but I persevere. :signofcross:

What are those prayers that help you to combat the evil one? I struggle many times. It’s hard to even talk about it to others because they might think I’m crazy and that it’s something psychological. But it really isn’t. I feel evil presence around me sometimes that it scares me, but like what you said, persever in prayer, for me that is the best!

Well…the Chaplet of St. Michael. :o I get attacked mightily when I pray this chaplet on a regular basis, and yes, these attacks do abate when I don’t pray it. However, Satan does not need to attack me, or you, if we are already his. If praying causes him to come after me, I view it as a sign I’m doing something right. Stopping that something is therefore the last thing I should do.

I’m sorry for your struggles. You might want to discuss your experiences with a priest. No priest will think you’re crazy because of something like this.

Praying for you. God bless!

Have experienced the same thing, not so much reflected in relationships, but situations around me or other spiritual manifestations. Just see it as a reflection of the efficacy of my praying. The more of a threat I pose, the more of the enemies’ attention I receive.

I will clarify that I wouldn’t classify it as praying too much, but as my prayer life increases.😉

Good luck and keep praying.

I was about to pray the Chaplet of St. Michael and I am having second thoughts because whenever I pray spiritual warfare prayers, I fear so much that I might end up experiencing something scary. I don’t know why there some prayers I pray and end up feeling weird right after throughout the day… it’s strange for me. I too notice that it even affects my family. Sometimes I pray and then something turns worse than what I was praying for too. I guess I’ll just stick to my usual prayers that I feel comfortable praying. I just feel though I need more protection for me and my family. I also regret praying prayers, especially exorcism prayers that I am unsure if they have been approved by the church because those too probably were also a result of the attacks. I know we shouldn’t pray certain prayers, only an authorized person like a priest, but I wasn’t aware at that time whether it was okay or not but due to the heavy attacks I did anyway and was I wrong!

Thanks so much for all the advices! I truly appreciate it. I do have St. Benedict Medals and Miraculous Medals around my house, but still sometimes encounter many attacks. But also these attacks spread in my family and household as well. It’s a battle everyday. I’m actually trying to find an emergency prayer that is short but effective and very powerful when I encounter these attacks as well. I’m actually trying to understand these attacks and what is it that I am doing or around me that causes me as well.

Ask Jesus to cover you with His Precious Blood. You can pray the Litany of the Precious Blood.

There are some prayers here that you may find helpful. auxiliumchristianorum.org/prayers.html

I second the use of sacramentals such as holy water and exorcised salt. Use them frequently and other blessed items.

Hi SunsetMemories,

I was going to suggest the same things that the others have suggested already, and that is to keep blessed sacramentals around your home that you can use, like Holy Water and the St. Benedict medals that (name removed by moderator) suggested, that have already been blessed/exorcised.

I would also have blessed crucifixes in your home, if you don’t already have any. I ended up just happening to have one in each room actually, since I received some as gifts from relatives, so I ended up hanging them up wherever I had extra space for them.

I also use blessed Rosaries, too. I also wear a blessed Benedictine medal that I received as a high school graduation gift.

I have noticed in my own life that in periods of time where I was becoming particularly closer in my relationship to God, that I would sometimes feel a palpable evil presence, too, or I would have these really bizarre thoughts pop into my head that would come out of nowhere, when I would especially go to Adoration. They would especially happen during Adoration. I just kept persevering in going to Adoration, and I figured that I must have been doing something right by going, if that was happening. They eventually stopped happening.

Keep on praying, and besides asking our Lord for help and protection, ask our Blessed Mother to help and protect you too, along with your Guardian Angel, too. Your Guardian Angel is there for you, too.

As fin suggested, you can ask Jesus to cover you with His Precious Blood. This is what I do, too.

Thank you so much for the help and advices. What do you mean by bizarre thoughts? Can you please share them or provide some examples? Honestly, I too also to tend to have negative thoughts and temptations that I often times I have difficulties of overcoming them. Is there a prayer for Guardian Angel? Or can I just pray to my Guardian Angel from my heart? Has these Sacramentals helped you? Do you notice a difference or do you at times feel some evil presence still? I will keep on praying. There are times that I feel like giving up, but I still pray because I don’t feel right when I don’t.

Hey!
First of all, you aren’t alone. There are so many Saints who have faced terrible attacks by Satan because of their deep love for Jesus. The thing is, the more you Pray, the more you will face temptations and trials, but you will also have the good Lord’s help in coping with it all.You can research the lives of these Saints, and you can ask for their help in fighting these attacks.
Secondly, I also agree that Holy Oil, Holy Water, Blessed Salt, and Blessed Medals are very useful in warding any kind of evil. Make the Sign of the Cross on your forehead every morning and night with Holy Oil or Holy Water, Wear your Rosary and Scapular, and attach the Blessed Medals (the Miraculous Mother Mary Medal and St. Benedict’s Medal are powerful) to them.
Thirdly, I think there’s no harm in saying Chaplets or Novenas to St. Michael for help. He’ll take good care of you. Ask your Guardian Angels for help too.
Fourthly, here’s a Prayer for Protection that I suggest:

Lord Jesus, by Faith in Your merits, I now take Your Precious Blood, and sprinkle it over myself and my family, right from the crown of our heads to the very souls of our feet. I seek from Thee total and complete protection for my life and my family. Lord Jesus, keep us free today from evil, sin, temptation, Satan’s Attacks and afflictions, fear of darkness, fear of man, sickness, diseases, doubts, anger, all calamities, and from all that is not of Thy kingdom. Fill us Lord Jesus with the gifts of Your Holy Spirit, and grant us the gifts of Wisdom, Knowledge, Faith, Understanding, and Discernment, so that we shall live today in Your glory, by doing what is right.
Praise You Jesus, thank You Jesus, Jesus I love and adore Thee.
Amen.

The Precious Blood of Jesus is Powerful. It is through this Precious Blood that our Heavenly Father shows us Mercy. It is through this Precious Blood that we human beings have obtained Salvation. I think this is enough reason for the Devil to be frightened of it!

Keep Praying, and we’ll Pray for you too. Satan may trouble you in order to prevent from Praying, but don’t lose heart. Repeat Psalm 91 over and over again.

All the best! God bless you!

I am not a person with a strong devotion to our Blessed Mother (I love her and respect her, and believe all that is taught about her, but I don’t say the rosary or other Marian prayers a lot), but it is said that Satan and the demons hate the Blessed Mother and I have found, strangely, that if I pray Hail Marys or the Rosary at times I feel I am under spiritual attack, it seems to really ward off the attack. This is true for me. Also the St. Michael prayer helps.

Try asking for the BVM’s intercession during these times, either saying Marian prayers like the Hail Mary or the rosary. After all, because of her fiat, Jesus was born into the world and defeated Satan, and he hates and fears her.

I have a granddaughter with ADHD and a tendency toward obsessive thoughts and scrupulosity, and I taught her both the prayer to St. Michael and the Rosary, and she says these in bed, as this is the time the obsessions become worse, and the prayers help her to sleep. (Perhaps they help her to focus on something other than what she was thinking about, I don’t know.) She has been doing this since she was little, although she is a teenager now, and seems to be doing much better with her diagnosis, and has made great progress. 🙂

Fr. Chad Ripperger is an exorcist who left the FSSP in order to involve himself entirely in exorcism. He is currently one of the Doloran Fathers.

One of the things that Father has done in the past is to write a series of daily prayers, the intentions of which are offered for certain exorcists, for certain of those suffering from extraordinary demonic activity and their family members and friends, as well as everyone else who happens to pray them.

You can read more here: auxiliumchristianorum.org/faq.html.

Thanks so much for all your help. Have you prayed the prayers? I wanted to know what your experience were like if you did.

Evil thoughts against anything holy while I was at Adoration. They were thoughts that were trying to get me out of there. I just “knew” that it was something that I couldn’t even think of myself. That’s what I mean by bizarre. Temptations, too. Just really strange stuff.

You can pray to your Guardian Angel from your heart if you want to. There are some traditional prayers to our Guardian Angels, if you want to pray those, too.

Here is one that is very common, from EWTN’s website:

Yes, I do believe that using the Sacramentals has helped me. 🙂

Honestly, I always feel that I am fighting evil in some way, as long as I am trying to stay close to the Lord and as long as I am trying to have some kind of a relationship with Him. That’s why I always keep blessed Sacramentals around, and that is why I always ask for help and protection, too.

You might consider saying your prayers, rosaries, etc. in Latin. According to the Chief Exorcist in Rome, the Devil hates Latin because he has been defeated so many times by prayers in Latin.

Keep a rosary on your person, a scapular on at all times. I keep a St. Benedict and a Miraculous medal in my rosary pouch as well. Holy water helps, and a traditional cross at each door. (The cross at the door is similar to the Jewish mezuzah.)

You might also consider purchasing the Raccolta, which is the compendium of all of the official prayers of the Church, as well as start reading the Divine Office - either the Traditional Latin version as offered by Baronius Press, for example, or the Liturgy of the Hours in 4 volumes.

Daily Latin Mass is also exceptionally powerful to combat these malignant forces. If you dare to delve into the topic, purchase the book, “Hostage to the Devil” by Malachi Martin, or “Beware the Night” by police officer, Ralph Sarchie. Sarchie’s book will scare you straight, as he details various encounters with the occult during his work as a police officer. Martin’s book will give you more of an intellectual foundation for spiritual warfare. Martin’s book is pretty strong medicine as well - if you can take it.

Personally, I have had a number of very strange spiritual “attacks” especially when attending Latin Mass daily. Less so “attacks” as obstacles deliberately put into my path to stop me from prayer. I have also found that praying prayers in Hebrew is also very, very effective in combating negative spiritual forces, especially praying the Psalms.

Since I’m not too fond of the term “evil thoughts” I’m going to substitute “temptation” as I feel it is more accurate in the case of believers.

When temptation comes at you in thoughts (and yes it happens during adoration unfortunately) several coping practices I use are the following:
  1. Use our Lord Jesus Christ’s words “Get behind me Satan”. Trust me these are words Satan will remember and the words of Christ are more powerful than any prayer IMHO.
  2. Say the Lord’s name “Jesus” three times with conviction and devotion. Not fast but with reverence and trust in his infinite authority and it’s amazing how he will bring you peace.
When in distress just stop call upon our Lord and he will deliver.

God Bless

I would also add that there can be a tendacy to over complicate seeking Jesus’ help and at times an additional temptation to attempt to control His response through certain prayers. My experience is to completely admit weakness and seek Him through simplicity and humility with a contrite heart and honest need for Him and Him alone.

Our Lord will not be outdone in generosity or any type of evil and will respond with peace and love to those who seek him with the heart, mind and faith of a child. He has told us so.
