Many people have suggested that these may be attacks by the enemy. They may well be. But has anyone considered the idea that this may be a “desert” experience?
The Hebrews were led into the desert after leaving Egypt. Why? They could have taken established trade routes, but they didn’t. Not only did God lead them into the desert, the kept them there for 40 years. Was God being cruel or mean?
In my opinion, the journey through the desert was not to take the Jews out of Egypt, but to take Egypt out of the Jews. He placed them in a situation in which their dependence on the Lord for everything good was emphasized.
Perhaps this is happening here to. We cannot make grace happen by saying the Rosary, or by adoring the Blessed Sacrament. Grace is a gift and is not always ‘felt’.
This may be lesson in patience from the Lord.
