Spiritual Direction by E-Mail

Years ago I was graced to receive spiritual direction through the mail. I was beneficial but long ago ended. Does anyone know a good source for spiritual direction through e-mail. Maybe there is a monastery or other source where this type of direction is available.

I haven’t tried the direction personally, but the site is orthodox, and I receive their newsletters which are very good.

It’s best to meet your spiritual director in person. E-mail can only do so much, and it cannot replace the real deal. Don’t get caught up in the digital age.

But if your option is email or no direction at all, I’d take the email direction.

I would prefer that also but no one is available. It’s something I’ve struggled with for decades and I’ve really grown tired of trying!!

The site Beckymarie has passed on to you seems to be an excellent one going by the newsletters they regularly send out if one registers for them.

This also may interest you - The Spiritaul Companionship Program from Eldridge Carmel. Last I heard it was full, but that they do accept names and contact details on a waiting list. It may be worth looking into and even if full to put one’s name on the list and being content to wait…being directed by a Carmelite religious would be real spiritual gold. Insofar as I know this program is still up and running.

Ihave done spiritual direction by e-mail but only because my director has been out of the country for a few years. However I do Skype him occasionally because I find direction through e-mail is lacks a lot. Good news he will be home for good in three weeks so we can get back to normal sessions.
