I recently obtained a Spiritual Director, and he is one of our parish priests. I recently learned his extensive training and I find it so amazing that the Holy Spirit led me to him! I really had a lot of doubt in asking, but now I realized how much I’ve been blessed.
He doesn’t charge anything, but he is only here temporarily and will be returing to his native India this coming fall. So I hope to make a decent donation to his parish…I can’t afford much, but I’m hoping to do something. I’m also hoping to cook a few things for him here and there and bring them to him–simple things, but really just tokens of my appreciation for all he’s done.
I also hope to send him back with a letter from me to express how much he’s already done for me and how I’ve recognized Christ in him.
When I first started with him I wasn’t sure where he was going but I decided to trust where God had led me and sure enough, Fr. has helped me to “hear” my Shepherd’s voice, deepen my experience with God and help me grow in virtue. (Boy, do I have a loooong way to go!). He challenges me to accept God’s final word on something and I hope is helping me grow in humility. (I struggle with that).
In short, I’m pretty sure he’s doing what God needs him to do to make me into the person God intends me to be.
I don’t know what I’m going to do when he leaves in a few months but I will have to trust God to lead me to someone else at that point.
