Spiritual director meeting frequency

I had a meeting with my priest spiritual director in late April. Would it be too frequent to arrange another meeting in late June, given I had sent him a few short Facebook messages in May? I feel the need for spiritual.counselling as I began praying daily and felt increasing restlessness.

Nothing wrong with requesting another meeting at this point. Your director may respond differently but there’s nothing morally wrong with requesting it.

The frequency of spiritual direction meetings is an individual matter between director and directee. I know people who see their SDs every 2-3 weeks because their spiritual journey currently benefits from such a schedule. Others go every three months with the option of adding meetings in between the regular appointments if the need arises. I myself have a monthly arrangement, but even that isn’t set in stone - we never meet in July (both of us are on vacation during that month) and this year did not meet in February (I was on vacation; the day I returned, he left to lead a spiritual retreat) or in May (I had knee surgery).

Ask your SD and see what he says.
