Spiritual director?

I want to find a spiritual director. That said, I am fairly new to this area, and I am not familiar with any of the priests here. I’ve been advised to listen to different priests’ homilies and the advice they give in the confessional, and to approach one who appeals to me intellectually. I’ve tried that; one said “no” and referred me to another; one said “maybe” and never called me back; one was transferred before I could ask; and the one to whom I was referred referred me to someone else who hasn’t answered my email yet – and he’s not even a priest.

Add to that the fact that my regular parish is at the cathedral – the priests there are just too busy, it seems.

Any suggestions? Anyone in the St. Petersburg Diocese, perhaps? Feel free to PM me if you are and have an idea.

Contact the St.Petersburg diocese. Usually, they will have a list of spiritual directors on file. Not all spiritual directors are priests and not all priests are spiritual directors…So that is where I would start. If you have never had one, then rest assured , you may have to try a couple of them, before you find one that will be a suitable fit. I tried 3 before I found the one I visit approx. every 6-8 wks. He is amazing and keeps me solidly on track. In fact, my wife will notice when I should be going to see him and encourage me to make an appt. Glad I married her.
